Key Responsibilities
- Surveillance and Monitoring: Continuously scan designated beach areas to identify potential hazards, including rip currents, strong waves, or unsafe swimming conditions. Maintain a high level of vigilance to prevent accidents before they occur.
- Emergency Response: Act immediately in the event of an emergency, such as drowning, injuries, or medical incidents. Perform rescues using appropriate techniques and equipment, including rescue tubes, buoys, or boats, as required.
- First Aid and CPR Administration: Provide prompt and effective first aid and CPR to individuals in distress. Assess injuries or medical conditions and administer necessary treatments until professional medical personnel arrive.
- Public Education and Awareness: Engage with beach visitors to educate them on water safety practices, including the dangers of rip currents, proper swimming techniques, and the importance of heeding warning flags. Promote a culture of safety and responsibility among the public.
- Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and maintain lifeguard equipment, including rescue boards, radios, and first aid kits, to ensure they are in optimal working condition. Report any deficiencies or malfunctions to the appropriate authorities.
- Incident Reporting: Document all incidents, rescues, and medical responses in detailed reports. Maintain accurate records for review by management and regulatory bodies.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with fellow lifeguards, beach patrol teams, and emergency services to coordinate safety efforts and ensure a unified response to incidents.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- A valid Saudi Lifesaving Federation (SLSF) Lifeguard License, which is mandatory for this position.
- A current CPR and First Aid Certificate, demonstrating proficiency in life-saving techniques.
- Prior experience as a beach or pool lifeguard is highly preferred, as it provides practical knowledge of water safety protocols and emergency response.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with the public and coordinate with team members.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform rescues and maintain surveillance for extended periods in challenging environmental conditions.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make quick, informed decisions in high-pressure situations.
- A proactive attitude with a keen eye for detail to identify and mitigate potential risks before they escalate.
Work Environment
This position requires working outdoors in a dynamic and often unpredictable environment. Lifeguards must be prepared to operate in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, strong winds, or sudden storms.
