Portfolio Director

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Portfolio Director to oversee and lead all aspects of assigned project operations. The ideal candidate will ensure projects are executed in alignment with company standards, delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with the project case. This role requires exceptional leadership, meticulous planning, and the ability to drive project success through structured methodologies and proactive risk management. The Portfolio Director will play a pivotal role in mobilizing projects, developing critical project documentation, and fostering stakeholder engagement to facilitate seamless project progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Mobilization and Initiation: Lead and coordinate project mobilization activities, including the development of the project initiation document, project scope, deliverables, and comprehensive project and resource plans. This ensures successful project initiation and lays the foundation for effective progress monitoring throughout subsequent phases.
• Risk Management and Mitigation: Proactively identify potential risk areas and structural obstacles that may impede project implementation. Develop and implement strategies to minimize risks, take corrective actions as needed, and escalate issues when necessary to ensure uninterrupted project execution and delivery.
• Project Controls and Quality Assurance: Oversee the design and implementation of formal project controls and quality assurance mechanisms. Ensure adherence to company standards, minimize risks, and enhance operational efficiency by maintaining rigorous oversight of project processes and outputs.
• Continuous Improvement and Insights: Collaborate with teams to extract key lessons from past and ongoing projects. Translate these insights into actionable recommendations to inform business cases and strategic plans, thereby enhancing project integrity, direction, and overall organizational performance.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Work closely with stakeholders and project sponsors to develop and execute communication plans. Facilitate transparent information sharing, foster strong stakeholder relationships, and ensure alignment to drive project success and organizational objectives.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in Project Management, with a proven track record of leading complex projects to successful completion.

While the above qualifications are essential, candidates with additional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2, or experience in specific industries relevant to the organization, will be highly regarded.
