Senior Accountant – Strategic Financial Leadership Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of financial duties, including but not limited to:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulatory requirements. Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • General Ledger Management: Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and reconciled promptly. Identify and resolve discrepancies to maintain the integrity of financial data.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure full compliance with local tax laws and regulations, including the preparation and filing of tax returns. Collaborate with tax advisors to optimize tax strategies and minimize liabilities while adhering to legal frameworks.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development, monitoring, and analysis of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Provide actionable insights to senior management to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Internal Controls and Audit Support: Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Serve as a key liaison with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and addressing audit findings proactively.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce operational costs. Recommend and implement best practices to improve financial systems and controls.
  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial goals with overall business objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting or supervisory role. Experience in the technology, engineering, or industrial sector is a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, particularly in financial modeling and data analysis. Familiarity with ERP systems is advantageous.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders effectively. Fluency in English is required; additional proficiency in Arabic is a valuable asset.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of local and international accounting standards, tax laws, and corporate governance principles. Ability to navigate regulatory changes and ensure compliance.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration across departments and build productive relationships.
