Position Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Field Engineer within the Tamheer Program, where you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional services and maintenance solutions to our valued customers. This position is designed for degreed engineers who are passionate about executing on-site life extensions, repairs, and inspection-related service activities for installed fleets. Your responsibilities will encompass supervising the construction and commissioning of new and existing equipment, performing onsite machining, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), blading, winding, critical welding, and generator diagnostics. As a Field Engineer, you will be empowered to make critical engineering decisions while adhering to established operational frameworks and prescribed work instructions.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and Maintenance Execution: Conduct all types of maintenance services, including preventive and remedial, to maintain, repair, and refurbish sold or existing products. Manage maintenance facilities and field services engineering to ensure seamless operations.
- Technical Expertise: Perform on-site life extensions, repairs, and inspections for installed fleets. Supervise construction and commissioning activities for new and existing equipment, ensuring adherence to technical and safety standards.
- Specialized Tasks: Execute onsite machining, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), blading, winding, critical welding, and generator diagnostics. Apply your engineering expertise to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Decision-Making: Make informed engineering decisions within the scope of your role, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of customer equipment.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and achieve operational goals. For customer-facing roles, develop strong relationships with clients, serving as the primary interface between GE and the customer. Exchange technical information, clarify requirements, and ensure mutual understanding.
- Documentation and Planning: Document service activities, plan maintenance programs, and execute initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in a relevant engineering discipline is required. For roles outside the USA, a high school diploma with relevant experience may be considered equivalent.
- Experience: Basic experience in Services & Field Services is essential. Familiarity with on-site engineering tasks and maintenance operations is highly desirable.
- Technical Knowledge: A conceptual understanding of professional engineering disciplines, including specialized expertise in areas such as machining, NDT, welding, and diagnostics.
- Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication abilities to document technical information, plan programs, and interact effectively with customers and team members.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve issues using established procedures and consult with senior team members for guidance on complex challenges.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals and enhance operational outcomes.
