About the Role
We are partnering with a leading organization to identify a highly motivated and strategic Commercial FinOps Lead based in Saudi Arabia. This pivotal role is designed for a senior professional capable of establishing and owning a commercial FinOps function from inception, driving efficiency, transparency, and sustainable growth across cloud and SaaS vendor management. Key Responsibilities
The Commercial FinOps Lead will be accountable for the commercial and analytical aspects of vendor management, ensuring that every technology investment delivers measurable value. Core responsibilities include:
- Vendor Relationship Management: Oversee end-to-end relationships with major cloud and SaaS vendors, including contract negotiations, renewals, commercial discussions, and the cultivation of strategic partnerships to maximize value.
- Procurement Governance: Lead procurement governance initiatives such as competitive bidding, benchmarking, approval workflows, and performance oversight of managed procurement partners to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- FinOps Initiatives: Drive FinOps programs focused on spend visibility, cost optimization, unit economics, licensing efficiency, and tooling consolidation to enhance financial performance and operational agility.
- Reporting and Transparency: Develop and maintain vendor cost reporting frameworks, dashboards, and governance structures to provide clear insights into spend patterns, accountability, and optimization opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with engineering teams to monitor cloud efficiency initiatives, identify and measure savings opportunities, and ensure alignment between technical execution and financial outcomes.
- Process and Standards Development: Establish and enforce standards, processes, and operating models for the commercial function while maintaining ownership of vendor efficiency programs to drive continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison between finance, legal, engineering teams, and external technology providers, fostering collaboration and ensuring alignment across all stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of financial expertise, technical understanding, and commercial leadership, enabling them to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment. The following qualifications and experience are essential:
- Proven Experience: Minimum of 5 years in vendor management, commercial operations, procurement, FinOps, or technical/financial analysis, with a track record of senior ownership.
- Vendor Management Expertise: Demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationships, conduct contract negotiations, oversee renewals, and implement commercial optimization strategies.
- Procurement Governance: Deep understanding of procurement processes, including competitive bidding, benchmarking, approval workflows, and vendor performance management.
- Analytical Proficiency: Strong capability to analyze cloud and SaaS spending data, identify optimization opportunities, and translate insights into actionable business strategies.
- Technical Reporting Skills: Hands-on experience creating cost dashboards and reports using SQL, business intelligence tools, or similar platforms to enhance decision-making.
- Cloud and SaaS Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud platforms, SaaS billing models, licensing structures, and technology cost management best practices.
- Communication and Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, bridging gaps between finance, engineering, and operations.
- Leadership and Influence: High level of ownership, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive change and influence teams without direct authority.
