PMC Lead Communications Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PMC Lead Communications Engineer to join our dynamic team at John Wood Group PLC, based in Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical leadership function within the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team, overseeing all aspects of communications engineering for our projects. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring seamless connectivity, robust infrastructure, and efficient data transmission across our operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, exceptional project management capabilities, and a proven track record of delivering high-impact solutions in complex environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Provide technical leadership and direction to the communications engineering team, aligning projects with organizational goals and industry best practices.
• Project Oversight: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of communications engineering projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to facilitate smooth project execution and resolve any technical or operational challenges.
• Technical Expertise: Apply advanced knowledge of communications systems, including network design, fiber optics, wireless technologies, and cybersecurity, to develop innovative and reliable solutions.
• Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks in communications infrastructure and implement proactive measures to mitigate them, ensuring operational resilience and continuity.
• Compliance and Standards: Ensure all communications engineering activities comply with relevant local and international regulations, standards, and safety protocols.
• Team Development: Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth within the team.
• Reporting and Documentation: Prepare comprehensive reports, technical documentation, and presentations to communicate project progress, challenges, and outcomes to senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CCNA, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in communications engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial capacity within a PMC or similar environment.
• Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and optimizing communications networks, including experience with fiber optic systems, microwave links, and satellite communications.
• Strong project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• In-depth knowledge of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies in the communications sector.
• Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, or network simulation tools, is an added advantage.
