Position Overview
Siemens, a global leader in digital innovation and smart infrastructure, is seeking a highly skilled Testing and Commissioning Engineer (Substation Automation System) to join our dynamic team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Key Responsibilities
As a Testing and Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the following core functions:
- System Design and Parameterization: Develop and configure substation control and monitoring systems, ensuring seamless integration with Human Machine Interface (HMI) and SCADA platforms. Parameterize BCU (Bay Control Units) and protection digital relays for Medium and High Voltage Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) to optimize performance and reliability.
- Commissioning and Testing: Lead the commissioning of substation automation systems, including conducting functional performance tests, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT). Your role will involve witnessing these tests to ensure compliance with technical specifications and industry standards.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive technical reports and documentation, including panel drawings, test protocols, SCADA point lists, and module data checklists. Maintain accurate records to support project delivery and future reference.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate closely with technical project management teams to provide updates, resolve technical challenges, and ensure timely project execution. Your contributions will be vital in aligning project deliverables with client expectations and regulatory requirements.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Adhere strictly to Siemens’ Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all stakeholders. Promote a culture of safety and sustainability in all project activities.
- Cybersecurity Implementation: Integrate cybersecurity measures into automation systems to safeguard critical infrastructure against potential threats. Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity standards and best practices to mitigate risks effectively.
- Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration: Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, sharing technical knowledge and best practices to foster innovation and continuous improvement. Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and expertise.
- Travel and Field Support: Travel extensively across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to participate in commissioning activities, site inspections, and client meetings. Your on-site presence will be essential to ensure the successful deployment of automation systems.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you must meet the following qualifications and possess the following skills:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Communication Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in substation automation systems, with a proven track record in testing, commissioning, and parameterization.
- Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of Siemens SAS System, XENON, and A8000 platforms. Certification in SAS System and cybersecurity is highly desirable.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required to effectively communicate with international teams and clients. Additional proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing project requirements.
