Electrical Engineer / Electrical Operations Subject Matter Expert (Data Centers)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer / Electrical Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME) specializing in data centers to join our dynamic team at Decima International in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our data center infrastructure while driving operational excellence and innovation. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for overseeing electrical systems, optimizing performance, and providing expert guidance to enhance our data center operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Electrical System Design and Maintenance: Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems within data centers, including power distribution, backup systems, and critical infrastructure. Ensure compliance with industry standards and local regulations.
• Operational Excellence: Monitor and optimize electrical operations to maximize uptime, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Implement best practices for preventive maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and mitigate risks.
• Technical Leadership: Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for electrical operations, providing guidance and support to cross-functional teams. Collaborate with IT, facilities, and engineering teams to align electrical systems with business objectives and technological advancements.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to safety protocols, electrical codes, and industry regulations. Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
• Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies, such as energy-efficient solutions, smart grid systems, and automation tools, to enhance data center performance. Recommend and implement improvements to existing processes and infrastructure.
• Stakeholder Management: Liaise with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to procure equipment, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely project delivery. Foster strong relationships to support operational and strategic goals.
• Training and Development: Mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing training and professional development opportunities to build a high-performing team. Stay updated with industry trends and certifications to maintain technical expertise.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess a strong academic background and hands-on experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on data center operations. The ideal candidate will have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., PE, CEM, or LEED) are highly desirable.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years dedicated to data center environments.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, UPS systems, generators, switchgear, and electrical safety protocols.
• Proficiency in industry standards such as NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE, and local regulatory requirements.
• Experience with energy management systems, power quality analysis, and electrical load calculations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues efficiently.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar electrical design and analysis software.
