Position Overview

Batterjee Medical College invites applications for the position of Faculty Member in Pediatrics – General Medicine Practice, an integral role within the General Medicine Program. This position is designed for a highly motivated and experienced pediatrician to contribute to the academic and clinical development of medical students while upholding the highest standards of medical education, research, and community engagement. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare professionals through innovative teaching methodologies, clinical mentorship, and scholarly contributions, all in alignment with national and international accreditation benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Clinical Education

The Faculty Member will be responsible for delivering comprehensive and engaging educational experiences in Pediatrics, encompassing both theoretical and practical components. This includes:

  • Conducting lectures, clinical teaching sessions, and interactive tutorials for medical students to foster a deep understanding of pediatric care;
  • Facilitating bedside teaching, case-based discussions, and hands-on clinical skills training to bridge the gap between theory and practice;
  • Covering essential pediatric domains such as General Pediatrics, Neonatology (where applicable), Growth and Development, and the management of pediatric diseases;
  • Implementing integrated teaching methodologies, including Case-Based Learning (CBL) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL), to enhance critical thinking and clinical reasoning;
  • Leveraging Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as Blackboard, and digital teaching tools to create dynamic and accessible learning environments;
  • Designing, administering, and evaluating assessments using platforms like ExamSoft to ensure academic rigor and student proficiency;
  • Maintaining meticulous academic records, including attendance tracking, student evaluations, and progress reports, to support continuous improvement.

Student Support and Development

Beyond classroom instruction, the Faculty Member will serve as a mentor and advisor to students, guiding them through their academic journey and fostering their professional growth. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing personalized academic advising and clinical mentorship to help students develop strong clinical reasoning and patient-centered care skills;
  • Monitoring student performance and offering constructive feedback to support their development and address any challenges;
  • Encouraging a culture of lifelong learning and professionalism among students to prepare them for successful careers in medicine.

Research and Scholarly Activities

To advance the field of Pediatrics and contribute to the academic community, the Faculty Member is expected to:

  • Conduct and publish high-impact research in Pediatrics or related disciplines, contributing to the body of knowledge in the field;
  • Participate actively in academic conferences, seminars, and research initiatives to share insights and collaborate with peers;
  • Champion a research-oriented culture within the program, inspiring students and colleagues to engage in scholarly activities.

Academic Quality and Compliance

Ensuring adherence to academic policies and accreditation standards is paramount. The Faculty Member will:

  • Uphold compliance with national and international accreditation requirements, such as those set by the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA);
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement efforts to enhance the quality of the General Medicine Program;
  • Prepare comprehensive course and program reports to document progress, outcomes, and areas for enhancement.

Collaboration and Engagement

Collaboration is key to fostering a cohesive and effective academic environment. The Faculty Member will:

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates for this position must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold an MBBS degree with a specialization in Pediatrics, such as an MD, Arab Board, or equivalent qualification;

  • Demonstrate prior experience in teaching Pediatrics within a medical college or clinical training environment;
