Sr. Rotating Equipment Engineer - Design & Construction

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer – Design & Construction to join our dynamic engineering team. This pivotal role requires an independent professional capable of applying advanced engineering principles to solve complex technical challenges, make critical decisions, and represent the organization in high-level discussions with key stakeholders, including engineers and officials from external entities. The successful candidate will provide expert technical guidance to designers and junior engineers while serving as a trusted advisor to colleagues and associates who rely on precise scientific interpretations and strategic advice.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership and Problem-Solving: Independently develop and implement advanced engineering solutions for rotating equipment, including turbines, compressors, pumps, and other critical machinery. Analyze technical issues, evaluate alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions to enhance performance, reliability, and efficiency.
• Project and Asset Management: Oversee a measurable asset, such as a designated engineering team, budget, or project portfolio. Ensure alignment with organizational goals, budget constraints, and technical standards while delivering measurable results.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the organization in technical conferences, negotiations, and industry forums to resolve critical questions, negotiate contracts, or collaborate on joint ventures. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster innovation and operational excellence.
• Mentorship and Knowledge Transfer: Provide technical mentorship to designers, engineers, and junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Serve as a subject matter expert, offering guidance on best practices, emerging technologies, and industry trends.
• Design and Construction Oversight: Lead the design, specification, and construction phases of rotating equipment projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate equipment into larger systems seamlessly.
• Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks associated with equipment performance, operational conditions, or project execution. Develop and implement mitigation strategies to minimize downtime, enhance safety, and optimize lifecycle costs.

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for this role, candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) from an accredited institution. A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in rotating equipment design, construction, or maintenance is required, with the ideal candidate averaging 10+ years of progressive experience in the field. Proficiency in industry-standard software tools, such as CAD, FEA, or simulation platforms, is highly desirable, along with a strong understanding of ASME, API, and other relevant codes and standards.
