Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Sandblaster to join our dynamic team in Jiddah. This full-time, on-site role requires an individual capable of preparing and cleaning metal and other surfaces using advanced abrasive blasting equipment in strict accordance with project specifications and safety regulations. The Sandblaster will play a pivotal role in ensuring surfaces are meticulously treated for subsequent painting, coating, or fabrication processes. Responsibilities include setting up and operating sandblasting machinery, selecting the appropriate abrasive materials, and conducting thorough inspections of work areas and completed surfaces. The ideal candidate will identify and report defects or safety concerns, maintain equipment in optimal condition, and collaborate effectively with supervisors and team members to enhance overall productivity in workshop or job site environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate sandblasting equipment and utilize various abrasive materials to prepare and clean surfaces according to project requirements.
• Set up, calibrate, and maintain sandblasting machinery to ensure efficient and safe operation.
• Select and manage abrasive materials based on surface type, project specifications, and environmental considerations.
• Conduct detailed inspections of surfaces post-blasting to verify cleanliness, texture, and readiness for subsequent processes such as painting or coating.
• Report any defects, inconsistencies, or safety hazards to supervisors and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform routine equipment checks, execute minor adjustments, and escalate maintenance needs to ensure operational reliability.
• Collaborate closely with painters, welders, supervisors, and other team members to align surface preparation with project timelines and quality standards.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of abrasive materials.
• Follow work orders, technical guidelines, and job cards to maintain consistency and accuracy in surface treatment processes.
• Demonstrate physical stamina to perform manual labor, including standing for extended periods, lifting moderate loads, and working in confined or outdoor environments as required.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• Proven experience operating sandblasting equipment and working with a variety of abrasive materials for surface preparation.
• Comprehensive knowledge of industrial safety practices, including the correct use of PPE and safe handling procedures for abrasive and hazardous materials.
• Ability to interpret and follow basic work instructions, job cards, and technical guidelines related to surface treatment and industrial processes.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure surfaces meet stringent quality and project standards for subsequent fabrication or coating applications.
• Basic mechanical aptitude to perform routine equipment checks, make minor adjustments, and report maintenance requirements promptly.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills to coordinate effectively with supervisors, painters, welders, and other crew members.
• Previous experience in heavy industry, shipyards, construction, or metal fabrication environments is highly advantageous.
• Flexibility to work shifts or overtime as dictated by project schedules and operational demands.
• Relevant vocational training or certification in industrial surface preparation, abrasive blasting, or related trades is considered a valuable asset.
