Sr. Rotating Equipment Engineer - Design & Construction

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer – Design & Construction to join our dynamic team at KBR in Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in the design, specification, and construction oversight of rotating equipment systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving project success, mitigating risks, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions that meet the evolving demands of our clients in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Engineering: Lead the design and engineering of rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and other critical machinery, in alignment with project specifications and industry best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop robust technical solutions that enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Technical Specifications & Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for rotating equipment, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with applicable codes and standards such as API, ISO, and ASME. Review and approve vendor documentation to guarantee alignment with project requirements.
• Construction Oversight: Provide on-site and remote construction support to ensure proper installation, commissioning, and testing of rotating equipment. Monitor progress, address technical challenges, and resolve issues promptly to minimize project delays and cost overruns.
• Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential equipment failures, operational inefficiencies, or safety hazards. Develop and implement mitigation strategies to enhance system reliability and operational safety.
• Vendor & Contractor Coordination: Liaise with equipment vendors, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery, quality assurance, and adherence to contractual obligations. Facilitate effective communication to resolve technical discrepancies and optimize performance.
• Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all rotating equipment designs and installations comply with local regulations, international standards, and KBR’s quality management systems. Conduct audits and inspections to verify compliance and drive continuous improvement.
• Troubleshooting & Optimization: Provide expert troubleshooting and root cause analysis for rotating equipment failures or performance issues. Recommend and implement corrective actions to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and extend equipment lifespan.
• Mentorship & Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and professional growth. Share best practices and technical insights to elevate the team’s capabilities and project outcomes.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PE, CEng) is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in rotating equipment engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role. Proven track record in design, construction, and commissioning of rotating equipment in industrial or oil & gas sectors is essential.
• Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of rotating equipment design principles, industry standards (API 610, API 617, API 674, etc.), and construction methodologies. Proficiency in engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar is required.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the capacity to lead multidisciplinary teams. Demonstrated leadership in driving project success and fostering a culture of safety and innovation.
• Certifications: Valid professional certifications in rotating equipment engineering or related disciplines are a plus.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Arabic is advantageous.
