Position Overview
SAIC is seeking a highly skilled Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to provide expert installation and integration support for C4I System racks and components within the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF). This critical role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Al Jubail, Eastern Province, and will involve direct engagement with RF systems across RSNF vessels, command centers, and training facilities. The RF Engineer will operate within the Technical Support Center, ensuring seamless system communications verification while performing RF cabling, terminations, and operational testing during installations. Additionally, the role encompasses engineering documentation updates, hardware configuration control, system drawings, bill of materials, cable run sheets, and serial number lists to maintain operational integrity.
Key Responsibilities
The RF Engineer will be responsible for the following core duties and responsibilities:
- RF System Analysis and Evaluation: Conduct in-depth analysis and evaluation of Radio Frequency (RF) systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with technical standards.
- Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Management:
- Perform pre-installation EMI surveys to establish baseline electromagnetic interference levels.
- Conduct post-installation surveys to assess any changes in EMI and document findings.
- Prepare detailed EMI Summary reports, including all findings and actionable recommendations for improvement.
- System Design and Testing: Collaborate with engineering teams to support system design, software installation, and equipment operational testing. Identify areas for enhancement and provide technical solutions to address performance gaps.
- Project Preparation and Support: During project intervals, engage in the construction of test cables and preparation for subsequent project phases to ensure continuity and efficiency.
- Quality Assurance and Documentation:
- Review RF quality issues, document findings, and implement approved corrective actions.
- Update and maintain engineering documentation, including hardware configuration control items (HCCI), system drawings, bill of materials, cable run sheets, and serial number lists.
- System Maintenance and Repairs:
- Maintain, repair, and perform functional communication circuit checks for Radio systems, including UHF, VHF, HF, VSAT, UHF SATCOM, and LINK-11/16, across ashore and afloat platforms of the RSNF.
- Utilize specialized test equipment and software-controlled diagnostics to isolate and resolve system malfunctions.
- Execute repairs and modifications in accordance with technical orders, manufacturer’s handbooks, and local procedures, including component-level troubleshooting and ESD handling.
- Technical Expertise and Collaboration: Provide technical solutions to complex problems requiring data analysis and evaluation of identifiable factors. Engage in frequent inter-organizational and external customer interactions to represent the organization and resolve technical challenges associated with specific projects.
Required Qualifications
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, a minimum of eleven years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
- Security Clearance: Must possess an active Secret security clearance with the ability to maintain it. U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Technical Skills: Proven experience in system hardware equipment installation, maintenance, and repairs.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following skills and certifications are highly desirable:
- Hands-on experience with Radio systems, including UHF, VHF, HF, VSAT, KVH SATCOM, NTDS/TADIL Data Links, and RF7800 series radios.
- Proficiency in networking technologies, particularly Cisco IOS, and familiarity with UPS systems (APC, Clary), GPS, CENTRIXS, GCCS-M/J, ADSI, and SY-117G.
- Expertise in component-level repairs, troubleshooting, and ESD handling procedures.
- Certification and experience in soldering using a 3M workstation or portable soldering iron, as well as RF and fiber optic cable termination and testing.
- Familiarity with the installation and configuration of RF communication protection devices, such as KG-250.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows (Windows 7/10) and Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting purposes.
Work Environment and Travel
This full-time position operates on a day shift basis with a 10% travel requirement to support installations and system verifications across various RSNF locations. The role involves on-site presence at Riyadh and Al Jubail, with potential for remote work opportunities as determined by organizational policies. Candidates must be prepared to work in dynamic environments, including vessels, command centers, and training facilities, while adhering to strict security protocols and technical standards.
