About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Material Planner to join our dynamic Supply Chain team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless production operations by meticulously planning, scheduling, and coordinating material requirements. Your responsibilities will include optimizing inventory levels, preventing supply shortages, and supporting on-time customer deliveries through strategic material management. This position requires close collaboration with Procurement, Production, Engineering, and Warehouse teams to maintain a balanced flow of materials while leveraging Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems for efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
The Material Planner will be responsible for the following core functions:
- Material Planning & MRP:
- Develop and execute material plans based on the Master Production Schedule (MPS) using MRP systems to ensure accurate material availability.
- Determine optimal material quantities, reorder points, and purchase requirements to align with production demand.
- Generate and manage purchase requisitions, coordinating with Procurement to secure timely material deliveries.
- Monitor material shortages proactively and implement corrective actions to prevent production disruptions.
- Support production planning by providing accurate demand forecasts and material scheduling insights.
- Inventory Planning & Control:
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to minimize excess stock and reduce obsolete inventory risks.
- Coordinate material movements across suppliers, warehouses, and production facilities to ensure efficient logistics.
- Track critical and fast-moving inventory items to guarantee uninterrupted production flow.
- Conduct comprehensive inventory analysis and recommend strategic initiatives for stock optimization.
- Participate in cycle counting and inventory accuracy programs to uphold data integrity.
- Supply Chain Coordination:
- Collaborate closely with Procurement, Engineering, Production, Warehouse, and Logistics teams to facilitate smooth material flow.
- Engage with suppliers to monitor delivery schedules and expedite urgent material requirements as needed.
- Support supplier performance evaluations and contribute to material availability planning strategies.
- Ensure the timely availability of raw materials, components, and consumables to meet production targets.
- Forecasting & Reporting:
- Analyze demand forecasts and production plans to anticipate future material requirements accurately.
- Prepare detailed material planning reports, inventory analyses, shortage reports, and procurement forecasts.
- Leverage ERP/MRP systems and business intelligence tools to enhance planning decisions and operational efficiency.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory management, material availability, supplier performance, and production support.
Qualifications & Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, or a closely related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in Material Planning, Production Planning, Procurement, or Supply Chain within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems in industrial or manufacturing operations is essential.
- Prior experience in manufacturing, industrial equipment, engineering, or heavy industry sectors is highly advantageous.
- Key Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Proficiency in using planning software and data analysis tools to drive informed decision-making.
