About the Role

Al Salama Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) Administrator to join our dynamic Radiology Services team within the Information & Communication Technology department. In this critical role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the seamless operation, maintenance, and optimization of our PACS and Radiology Information System (RIS). Your expertise will directly support physicians, radiology technicians, and medical staff in delivering exceptional patient care through reliable and efficient diagnostic imaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities

As a PACS Administrator, your core responsibilities will encompass a wide range of technical and operational duties, including:

• System Maintenance and Optimization: Diagnose, repair, maintain, and upgrade all PACS-associated hardware and software to guarantee optimal system performance and reliability.
• Daily Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day PACS/RIS operations, including image workflow, archiving, auto-routing, and auto-perfecting to ensure efficient and uninterrupted service delivery.
• Interface Management: Maintain and troubleshoot HL7 interfaces between the Hospital Information System (HIS) and Radiology Information System (RIS) to facilitate seamless data exchange and workflow integration.
• System Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Continuously monitor PACS operations, investigate system issues proactively, and resolve technical challenges to meet stringent result turnaround times and service level agreements.
• Data Management: Ensure the accurate and timely capture of DICOM image data, manage the importing and archiving of images from external sources, and maintain the integrity of the imaging database.
• Image Distribution and Patient Services: Fulfill image distribution requests, manage the creation and distribution of DICOM CDs/DVDs, and facilitate the secure transmission of patient images via the patient portal.
• Quality Assurance and Compliance: Actively participate in Quality Improvement (QI), Quality Assurance (QA), and Quality Control (QC) activities to uphold the highest standards of imaging quality and diagnostic accuracy. Provide comprehensive training and support to radiology staff and end-users to enhance system proficiency.
• Data Security and Compliance: Maintain strict patient information confidentiality, adhere to hospital policies, and ensure full compliance with workplace safety regulations and data protection standards.

Qualifications

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following educational and professional criteria:

• Education: A graduate degree or a three-year Diploma in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or Electrical & Electronics. A Bachelor’s degree in Applied Medical Sciences or Healthcare Management is considered an asset.
• Experience: Minimum of three years of hands-on experience as a PACS and/or RIS System Administrator within a healthcare institution, with a proven track record in managing radiology information systems.

• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with proficiency in Arabic considered a valuable asset.
