System Administrator

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of our organization’s computer systems, servers, and network infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

• System Maintenance and Monitoring: Perform regular system checks, updates, and patches to ensure all servers and network devices operate efficiently. Monitor system performance and proactively address any issues to prevent downtime.
• Server and Network Administration: Manage, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Oversee network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, to ensure secure and uninterrupted connectivity.
• Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce security policies, access controls, and best practices to safeguard sensitive data and systems. Conduct regular audits and vulnerability assessments to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop, implement, and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery plans to protect critical data and ensure business continuity. Regularly test recovery procedures to verify their effectiveness.
• User Support and Training: Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and assist with system-related inquiries. Collaborate with the IT team to deliver training sessions and documentation to enhance user proficiency and reduce support tickets.
• Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, engineers, and project managers, to align IT infrastructure with business objectives. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Liaise with external vendors, service providers, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues, negotiate contracts, and ensure the timely delivery of IT services and solutions.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) are highly desirable.
• Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with server administration (Windows/Linux), virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash). Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a plus.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently. A proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential system vulnerabilities or performance bottlenecks.
• Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Certifications: Industry-recognized certifications such as ITIL, MCSE, or RHCE are advantageous but not mandatory.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in system administration, network administration, or a related IT role. Prior experience in an enterprise environment is preferred.
