Electrical Maintenance Engineering Supervisor

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineering Supervisor to lead and oversee the electrical maintenance operations within our organization. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving the implementation of our Power Systems maintenance strategy while ensuring the highest standards of plant availability, equipment integrity, and safety. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of Electrical Maintenance Engineers, QA/QC Engineers, and Planners, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining critical electrical infrastructure, including steam turbine generators, emergency diesel generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, and motors, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The Electrical Maintenance Engineering Supervisor will play a central role in the following areas:

• Technical Leadership and Guidance: Provide expert technical support and direction to electrical maintenance teams and other departments to ensure the proper maintenance of all electrical equipment, including high-voltage and low-voltage systems, generators, transformers, and motors. Your oversight will be critical in maintaining operational reliability and minimizing downtime.
• Team Mentorship and Development: Mentor and guide electrical maintenance personnel, including contractors, to enhance their technical skills and competencies. Lead initiatives for personnel qualification, certification, and accreditation to ensure a highly skilled and compliant workforce.
• Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical records, drawings, and documentation for all electrical equipment. Ensure that maintenance history, PM reports, configuration changes, and software updates are properly documented, archived, and backed up. This role requires meticulous attention to detail to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
• Safety Leadership: Champion a strong safety culture within the department by embedding safety measures into all electrical equipment, procedures, and tasks. Your proactive approach will help identify and mitigate potential hazards, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
• Performance Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present regular reports on electrical system performance, maintenance KPIs, and departmental metrics. Analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, driving continuous enhancement in maintenance practices.
• Vendor and Contractor Management: Develop job specifications and cost estimates for outsourced maintenance activities. Evaluate vendors and contractors technically, participate in contract reviews, and identify opportunities for optimization to ensure cost-effective and high-quality maintenance services.
• Innovation and Digitalization: Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance productivity, efficiency, sustainability, and digitalization. Leverage maintenance KPI data to drive data-driven decision-making and process improvements.
• Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis: Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses (RCAs), and the analysis of corrective maintenance (CM) work orders to identify the underlying causes of defects. Your findings will inform preventive measures and process improvements to enhance equipment reliability.
• Collaboration and Work Instruction Development: Engage regularly with Area Maintenance Foremen, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and vendors to review and modify maintenance work instructions based on field feedback and evolving requirements. Ensure that work instructions are accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with best practices.
• Maintenance Planning and Turnaround Support: Review electrical maintenance plans to identify potential constraints for preventive maintenance (PM) job execution. Evaluate PM deferment requests and actively participate in the development of Turnaround scopes to ensure seamless execution and minimal operational disruption.
• Commissioning and Testing Oversight: Witness the commissioning and testing of new electrical equipment, lead site functional tests, and provide sign-off to validate performance and compliance. Participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), substation energization, and handover processes to ensure a smooth transition to operational status.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in maintenance, with a focus on the oil & gas, petrochemical, or related industries. At least 3-5 years of this experience must be in a supervisory or leadership role, demonstrating your ability to manage teams and drive operational excellence.
• Familiarity with international and local standards such as IEEE, IEC, NFPA, and Grid Code is highly advantageous and will be considered a strong asset.
• Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures, along with a deep understanding of field testing requirements for new installations.
• Proficiency in SAP Maintenance Module or equivalent enterprise asset management (EAM) systems.
• Exceptional communication, analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, enabling you to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and drive technical solutions.
