Database Administrator (Saudi nationals preferred)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our dynamic team at Oivan Group Oy in Riyadh. This role is pivotal in ensuring the optimal performance, security, and integrity of our database systems. As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and enhancing our database infrastructure to support critical business operations. Key Responsibilities

The Database Administrator will play a central role in the following areas:

• Database Management: Design, implement, and maintain robust database solutions, including installation, configuration, and upgrades of database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL.
• Performance Optimization: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies to enhance efficiency, scalability, and responsiveness of database systems.
• Data Security and Compliance: Ensure the security and integrity of databases by implementing access controls, encryption, and backup strategies. Adhere to industry best practices and regulatory requirements to safeguard sensitive information.
• Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain comprehensive backup and disaster recovery plans to minimize data loss and ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or cyber threats.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues promptly, providing technical support to end-users and collaborating with cross-functional teams to address complex challenges.
• Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with software developers, system analysts, and IT teams to integrate database solutions with applications. Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures for future reference.
• Capacity Planning: Assess database growth trends and resource requirements to proactively plan for future capacity needs, ensuring seamless scalability as business demands evolve.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in database administration, with expertise in managing large-scale database environments. Proficiency in database technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB is essential.
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database query optimization.
  • Experience with database clustering, replication, and high-availability solutions.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation tasks.
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the capacity to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Attention to detail and a commitment to continuous learning are critical for staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.
