We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pediatric Anesthesia Consultant to join a distinguished tertiary healthcare provider in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will deliver exceptional anesthetic care to infants, children, and adolescents, supporting a wide range of high-acuity surgical specialties while ensuring the highest standards of safety and clinical excellence. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will play a critical role in peri-operative management, emergency resuscitation, and advanced pain management, contributing to improved patient outcomes in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Comprehensive Anesthetic Care: Provide independent pediatric anesthesia across a full spectrum of surgical services, including general and neonatal surgery, ENT, orthopedics, ophthalmology, urology, pediatric trauma, emergency cases, oncology, radiology, and interventional procedures.
• High-Risk Patient Management: Deliver safe anesthesia for critically ill pediatric patients classified as ASA III–IV, including complex airway management, rapid sequence induction, and emergency resuscitation. Lead difficult airway management strategies and participate in neonatal and pediatric intensive care unit (NICU/PICU) support.
• Advanced Pain Management: Perform and supervise regional and ultrasound-guided nerve blocks as part of a multimodal pain management approach, ensuring optimal post-operative recovery and patient comfort.
• Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Engage in multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions, peri-operative care planning, and the development of evidence-based clinical pathways to enhance patient safety and outcomes.
• Quality Improvement & Governance: Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality reviews, and departmental audits to uphold the highest standards of clinical governance in alignment with SCFHS, JCI, and MOH regulations.
• Education & Training: Actively participate in the training and competency development of junior anesthesia staff through simulation sessions, workshops, and mentorship programs, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
• Clinical Leadership: Provide leadership in peri-operative optimization, pre-operative assessments, and post-operative pain control, ensuring seamless integration with NICU and PICU teams for neonatal emergencies and critical care cases.

Requirements

• Qualifications: Western Board Certification in Anesthesia (e.g., FRCA, American Board, FRCPC, CIC, FANZCA, or equivalent) with a recognized Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia or a minimum of 2–3 years of tertiary-level experience in pediatric anesthesia.
• Professional Eligibility: Eligibility for SCFHS Consultant Classification, demonstrating proficiency in neonatal and pediatric airway management, regional anesthesia, and high-acuity pediatric cases.
• Clinical Experience: Prior experience in tertiary children’s hospitals or major surgical centers is highly desirable, with a strong background in managing complex pediatric cases and emergency scenarios.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary pediatric teams and contribute to a positive and cohesive work environment.

Desirable Experience

• Exposure to pediatric cardiac anesthesia or participation in complex airway programs.
• Experience with simulation-based training, pediatric pain pathways, and sedation services.
• Active involvement in clinical research, guideline development, or quality improvement projects to advance pediatric anesthesia practices.
