Position Overview

Batterjee Medical College invites applications for the position of Faculty Member in Biochemistry within the Preparatory Year Program. Key Responsibilities

The Faculty Member in Biochemistry will be responsible for a diverse range of academic and administrative duties, including:

  • Teaching and Learning:
    • Deliver comprehensive lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and problem-based learning activities in Biochemistry, utilizing student-centered pedagogical approaches to enhance engagement and comprehension.
    • Instruct students in core topics such as molecular biology, cell biology, metabolism, enzymes, proteins, nucleic acids, genetics, and clinical biochemistry, emphasizing the practical applications of these concepts in healthcare.
    • Develop and implement course materials, assessments, examinations, and laboratory activities that align with program learning outcomes and accreditation standards.
    • Leverage educational technologies, including Blackboard (Learning Management System), ExamSoft, and other digital tools, to optimize teaching effectiveness and student interaction.
    • Maintain meticulous records of attendance, grades, assessments, and academic documentation to ensure transparency and compliance with institutional policies.
  • Student Support and Development:
    • Provide academic advising and mentorship to Preparatory Year students, guiding them in developing critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and problem-solving skills essential for their academic and professional growth.
    • Monitor student performance through regular assessments and evaluations, offering constructive feedback to support their progress and success.
    • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and academic achievement.
  • Research and Scholarly Activities:
    • Conduct high-impact research in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related biomedical sciences, contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge and the College’s research initiatives.
    • Publish scholarly work in reputable, peer-reviewed journals and present research findings at academic conferences to enhance the College’s academic reputation.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on research projects, promoting a culture of scientific inquiry and innovation within the institution.
    • Contribute to curriculum enhancement by integrating evidence-based educational practices and research outcomes into teaching methodologies.
  • Academic Quality and Institutional Service:
    • Participate actively in departmental meetings, academic committees, and quality assurance initiatives to uphold the College’s educational standards and accreditation requirements.
    • Prepare and submit course reports, annual program reports, and other academic documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Contribute to curriculum review processes, assessment strategies, and continuous program improvement efforts to ensure alignment with industry and academic best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and academic regulations to maintain the College’s standing as a premier educational institution.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Participate in scientific outreach activities, health awareness campaigns, and community engagement initiatives to promote science education and public health awareness.
    • Collaborate with external partners, including healthcare professionals and educational institutions, to foster partnerships that enhance the College’s impact and visibility.

Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A Master’s degree or PhD in Biochemistry, Clinical Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline. Candidates holding a PhD are strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biomedical Sciences, with a commitment to delivering high-quality education and fostering student success.
  • Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (such as Blackboard), ExamSoft, and other educational technologies to support teaching and assessment.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary academic environment.
