الوصف الوظيفي

Position Overview

As an Engineer specializing in Process Control, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing plant safety, profitability, efficiency, and operability through the development and implementation of advanced control strategies. This position requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting, system optimization, and continuous improvement, ensuring that control systems operate at peak performance while adhering to stringent safety and quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence and support critical plant processes, including shutdowns, turnarounds, and hazard reviews.

Key Responsibilities

In this dynamic role, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Process Safety Management (PSM): Actively participate in the Management of Change process by conducting hazard reviews, leading HAZOP (Hazards and Operability Study) and LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis) studies, and ensuring rigorous follow-up on action items. Conduct Pre-Startup Safety Reviews to validate system readiness before operational changes.
  • Process Control Strategy Development: Evaluate new process schemes and designs to assess their feasibility and potential impact on plant performance. Identify opportunities for improvement in existing control strategies and implement advanced process control applications to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Control System Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve issues within control systems, providing timely support for resolution implementation. Monitor control systems and supporting applications to execute preventative maintenance, ensuring optimal system performance and reliability.
  • Alarm Management and Documentation: Lead Alarm Documentation and Rationalization (AOA) activities to streamline alarm systems and reduce nuisance alarms. Support the implementation and management of advanced process control applications to improve system responsiveness and safety.
  • Project and Change Management: Implement control system changes for managed changes and small projects, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. Provide support for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and instrumented independent protection layers, including lifecycle management and proof testing.
  • Training and Knowledge Sharing: Develop instructional materials and conduct training sessions for Operations, Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Maintenance, and Technical personnel on control-related topics. Share expertise to enhance team competency and ensure smooth operational transitions.
  • Shutdown and Turnaround Support: Provide control engineering support during planned and unplanned shutdowns and unit turnarounds, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum safety. Participate in daily support activities, including reviewing bypass permits, installing permits where applicable, and contributing to incident investigations.
  • Instrumentation and Control Valve Expertise: Take responsibility for the sizing, selection, and implementation of instrumentation devices, control valves, and measurement devices. Perform control loop performance analysis and tuning, troubleshooting sensors, controllers, and final elements to maintain system accuracy and reliability.
  • Compliance and Operational Excellence: Strictly adhere to environmental, health, safety, and quality policies to ensure employee safety, regulatory compliance, and high-quality product delivery. Contribute to operational excellence initiatives and continuous improvement processes within the assigned area.
  • On-Call Support: Provide off-hour call-out support for control system issues as needed, demonstrating responsiveness and technical proficiency to address critical operational challenges.

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for this role, you must possess the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in process control, instrumentation, or a closely related field.
  • Strong technical expertise in control system troubleshooting, loop tuning, and instrumentation selection.
  • Proven experience in Process Safety Management (PSM), HAZOP, LOPA, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex systems and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and training skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and share technical knowledge.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
