Position Overview
Saudi Industrial Investment Group (SIIG), in collaboration with Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC through its wholly owned affiliate, Arabian Chevron Phillips Petrochemical Company (ACP), operates three significant joint venture projects in the Eastern Province Industrial City of Al-Jubail: Saudi Chevron Phillips Company (SCP), Jubail Chevron Phillips Company (JCP), and Saudi Polymers Company (SPCo), which is jointly owned by ACP and National Petrochemical Company (Petrochem). As a Process Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence, process optimization, and adherence to stringent safety and environmental standards within these world-class petrochemical facilities. Key Responsibilities
The Process Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise to enhance process capability, efficiency, yield, and quality while ensuring full compliance with the organization’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, Process Safety Management (PSM) systems, and plant safeguarding requirements. Your core duties will include:
- Process Optimization and Support: Conduct real-time analysis of plant and vendor data to identify opportunities for improvement. Collect and interpret performance metrics to drive efficiency gains, optimize unit operations, and enhance product quality. Review critical operating parameters and perform periodic performance analyses to maintain peak operational performance.
- Economic Evaluation and Cost Efficiency: Assist in evaluating plant economics by validating process models and recommending cost-effective solutions to maximize plant availability and profitability. Contribute to shutdown planning by predicting end-of-run conditions for catalysts and other critical components.
- Compliance and Safety Management: Ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work methods for production areas and processes. Actively participate in incident investigations, Management of Change (MOC) reviews, Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) to mitigate risks and uphold safety standards.
- Project and Troubleshooting Support: Collaborate with Senior Process Engineers to support plant commissioning, turnaround activities, and troubleshooting efforts arising from operational changes or new projects. Organize, implement, and maintain production process flows to ensure seamless integration of Phase I and Phase II projects.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives for continuous improvement within assigned areas, contributing to the organization’s operational excellence framework. Support the Superintendent of Process Engineering in executing responsibilities aligned with operational excellence goals.
- Regulatory and Environmental Stewardship: Strictly adhere to environmental, health, safety, and quality policies to ensure legislative compliance, employee safety, and the delivery of high-quality products and services. Promote a culture of responsible environmental stewardship across all operational activities.
Qualifications and Competencies
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of relevant experience in process engineering, with a preference for candidates with prior experience in the petrochemical industry.
- Technical and Analytical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Aptitude for presenting technical information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, including managers, clients, and operational teams.
- Safety and Compliance Mindset: A demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and adherence to regulatory standards. Ability to identify and mitigate risks in dynamic operational environments.
- Collaborative and Problem-Solving Approach: Capacity to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive solutions that enhance operational performance.
