Join MBCC’s Emergency Response Team as a Firefighter
Ma’aden Barrick Copper Company (MBCC) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Firefighter to join our elite Emergency Response Team (ERT). Key Responsibilities
As a Firefighter at MBCC, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of critical functions designed to ensure operational readiness and emergency preparedness:
- Emergency Response Operations: Respond promptly and effectively to fire, rescue, hazardous materials (HazMat), medical emergencies, and other critical incidents across both surface and underground operations. Execute structural, industrial, vehicle, and wildland firefighting in strict accordance with approved procedures and safety protocols.
- Underground Mine Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response, rescue, and evacuation operations within underground mining environments, ensuring the safety of personnel and minimizing operational disruptions.
- Emergency Standby and Readiness: Provide essential emergency standby services during high-risk activities, including shutdowns, confined space work, and hot work. Maintain full operational readiness for shift work, standby duties, and emergency callouts to ensure rapid response capabilities.
- First Aid and Medical Support: Deliver First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) until advanced medical care arrives, demonstrating a commitment to saving lives and mitigating injuries.
- Firefighting Equipment and Emergency Readiness: Conduct thorough inspections of fire trucks, emergency vehicles, rescue equipment, firefighting apparatus, SCBA units, and other critical tools. Operate fire trucks, pumps, foam systems, hose lines, and portable firefighting equipment to ensure optimal performance during emergencies.
- Equipment Maintenance and Reporting: Maintain all firefighting and rescue equipment in operational condition, promptly reporting defects and supporting preventive maintenance activities. Inspect, clean, test, and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Fire Prevention and Safety: Conduct comprehensive fire prevention inspections of buildings, workshops, warehouses, fuel facilities, and underground operations. Support the inspection, testing, and maintenance of hydrants, hose reels, portable fire extinguishers, and fire protection systems. Identify potential fire hazards and recommend corrective actions to enhance safety.
- Emergency Training and Preparedness: Participate in emergency drills, simulations, and practical firefighting exercises to maintain peak competency in firefighting, rescue operations, SCBA usage, first aid, HazMat response, and emergency protocols. Assist in delivering fire safety awareness sessions to employees and contractors to foster a culture of safety.
- Incident Reporting and Communication: Complete incident reports, equipment inspection records, and training documentation with precision and timeliness. Maintain clear and effective communication with Incident Command, Control Room, Security, Medical Team, and Operations to ensure coordinated emergency response.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work seamlessly with Mining, Process Plant, Maintenance, Security, Medical, and other departments during emergency response operations. Collaborate with emergency response contractors and mutual aid agencies as required, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance emergency preparedness and operational readiness.
Qualifications and Requirements
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- A Diploma in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), or a related field.
- Certification as a Firefighter I & II or an equivalent industrial firefighting qualification.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Current certification in First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Medical and physical fitness standards that meet the demands of firefighting and emergency response duties.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in high-stakes environments.
