Infection Control Specialist

The Infection Control Specialist plays a pivotal role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment within our healthcare facility. This position is responsible for assisting in the daily supervision of the Infection Control Program, ensuring that practices are in place to prevent and minimize the spread of infection.

• Key Responsibilities and Duties:
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure continuous and proactive infection control.
• Assist in initiating precautions and isolation measures for transmissible diseases.
• Conduct daily surveillance of patients to identify healthcare-associated infections and prepare periodic reports.
• Collect and analyze microbiological and other pertinent reports related to infection prevention and control.
• Participate in epidemiological investigations during outbreaks and assist in control measures.
• Educate staff, students, patients, and visitors on infection control and prevention.
• Monitor staff compliance with infection control practices through audits.
• Identify and address infection control problems and risks.
• Serve as a resource person and assist in the development of improved infection control measures.
• Document and report diseases that are 'reportable' to health authorities.
• Conduct periodic assessments of the facility's environment to ensure conformity with infection control principles.
• Assist in the review of environmental cleanliness and monitor the implementation of healthcare waste programs.
• Oversee ambulatory cares and home care organizations, including policy development, staff education, and employee exposure evaluation.
• Organize and participate in infection control committee meetings and other assigned committees.
• Participate in fire and disaster drills.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility.
