Position Overview

As a vital member of our operations team, the Freight/Receiving Associate plays a critical role in ensuring our store remains fully stocked and prepared to serve customers efficiently. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of incoming freight, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and supporting the overall flow of goods throughout the facility. Associates in this role may operate forklifts, manage receiving documentation, and perform essential tasks to uphold store readiness and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Freight Processing: Load and unload shipments from delivery trucks, ensuring all items are accounted for and properly documented. Verify shipment accuracy against purchase orders to prevent discrepancies.
• Inventory Management: Move and organize merchandise from the receiving area to designated storage locations, including shelves, stockrooms, and sales floors. Maintain accurate on-hand inventory levels to support customer demand.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment to transport heavy or bulky items. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent workplace injuries.
• Pricing and Labeling: Assist in maintaining correct pricing and labeling on merchandise to ensure compliance with store standards and regulatory requirements. Update price tags and promotional materials as needed.
• Customer Interaction: Provide exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers with locating products, answering questions, and addressing concerns. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor in all interactions.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with warehouse staff, store associates, and management to coordinate freight processing, inventory replenishment, and store operations. Support team leads in training and mentoring new associates as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrate proficiency in basic math and computer skills. Prior experience in warehouse operations, retail, or logistics is beneficial but not required. Strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds are essential. Associates must also hold a valid forklift certification, if applicable, and comply with all safety regulations.
