Position Overview

As a vital member of our operations team, the Freight/Receiving Associate plays a critical role in ensuring the store remains fully stocked, organized, and prepared to serve customers efficiently. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of incoming freight, maintaining inventory integrity, and supporting the flow of goods throughout the facility. Associates in this role may operate forklifts, manage receiving docks, and perform essential tasks to uphold store readiness and operational excellence. Strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to safety are essential for success in this dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Freight Processing and Unloading: Efficiently unload trucks and transport incoming freight to the receiving area, ensuring minimal delays and adherence to safety protocols. May operate powered industrial vehicles, including forklifts, to move materials as required.
• Inventory Management: Accurately receive, verify, and document incoming shipments, matching orders to purchase records to maintain proper on-hand inventory levels. Identify discrepancies and report issues promptly to management.
• Stock Distribution: Transport merchandise from the receiving area to designated locations within the store, including sales floors, backrooms, and storage areas. Ensure products are placed in the correct zones to support merchandising and customer accessibility.
• Pricing and Labeling: Assist in maintaining accurate pricing and labeling for merchandise by verifying shelf tags, updating systems, and ensuring compliance with store standards. May assist in price audits and promotional setups as needed.
• Customer Service and Collaboration: Engage with customers and team members to address inquiries, provide assistance, or facilitate smooth operations. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor, particularly in roles requiring direct customer interaction.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all workplace safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques, equipment operation, and hazard reporting. Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and other applicable standards to create a secure work environment.
• Team Leadership (for Lead Roles): Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Freight/Receiving team, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing guidance to ensure timely and accurate completion of duties. Assist in training new associates and fostering a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications and Skills

Ideal candidates will possess a high school diploma or equivalent and demonstrate proficiency in basic math, reading, and computer skills. Prior experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, or retail environments is beneficial but not required. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and operate material handling equipment safely is essential. Strong organizational skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment are highly valued. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are required to collaborate effectively with colleagues and support store operations.
