As part of this vision, we are seeking skilled Full-Stack Web App Developers to contribute to the Tendem project (https://tendem.ai/), a hybrid AI + human environment where interactive browser-based applications are developed and refined.

In this role, you will be known as an AI Pilot—a position uniquely designed for professionals who excel in full-stack engineering, architectural decision-making, and quality assurance. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with Tendem Agents, which handle repetitive tasks, while you provide the critical expertise needed to build functional, robust, and user-ready web applications. This part-time, fully remote opportunity is ideal for experienced developers who thrive in end-to-end web development, from frontend frameworks to backend APIs and databases.

Your Role as a Full-Stack Web App Developer

As a freelance Full-Stack Web App Developer, you will design, develop, and refine browser-based applications that incorporate real logic, state management, data persistence, and user input. These applications may range from habit trackers and budgeting tools to internal dashboards, mini-SaaS solutions, and AI-powered applications. Additionally, you may contribute to standalone Python applications and data-processing scripts that support or enhance these products.

Key Responsibilities

• Frontend Development: Build interactive web applications using modern frontend frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, or similar technologies.
• Backend Development: Develop and maintain backend APIs using Python (FastAPI, Flask, Django) or Node.js (Express, NestJS) to ensure seamless data flow and functionality.
• Database Design: Design and implement data models, schemas, and persistence layers using SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite) or NoSQL databases.
• Authentication & Security: Implement authentication systems, session management, and role-based access controls to safeguard user data and application integrity.
• API Integration: Integrate third-party APIs and AI/LLM services (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) to enhance product features and capabilities.
• State & Data Management: Handle state management, user input validation, error states, and loading states to ensure a smooth and responsive user experience.
• Python Scripting: Develop standalone Python tools and scripts for data processing, API clients, or lightweight backend utilities as required by the project.
• Code Evaluation & Refactoring: Assess AI-generated full-stack code, refactoring it for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability to meet production standards.
• Testing & Debugging: Write clear, testable code and debug end-to-end issues across the frontend, backend, and database layers.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in full-stack web development or shipping interactive web applications.
• Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field is preferred but not mandatory.
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Strong command of JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one modern frontend framework (React, Next.js, Vue, Svelte, or similar).
  • Solid backend experience in Python (FastAPI, Flask, Django) and/or Node.js (Express, NestJS).
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite) and basic schema design.
  • Experience implementing REST APIs, request validation, error handling, and authentication flows.
  • Familiarity with deployment platforms such as Vercel, Netlify, Render, Fly.io, Railway, or similar.
  • Experience integrating LLM APIs or other AI services into product features is a strong advantage.
• Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to independently architect and ship complete features. Comfort with version control (Git) and basic testing practices is essential.
• Portfolio: A portfolio of shipped web applications is required to demonstrate your capabilities.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
