Lead Value Engineer

Position Overview

Parsons is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Value Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead Value Engineering (VE) initiatives across diverse projects, driving cost optimization, performance enhancement, and value maximization through structured methodologies and collaborative stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities

As the Lead Value Engineer, you will be responsible for the following core functions:

• Strategic Leadership: Plan, lead, and facilitate Value Engineering and Value Management workshops in strict adherence to SAVE International standards, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and organizational goals.
• Functional Analysis & Optimization: Conduct in-depth Function Analysis (FAST) to evaluate project requirements, develop cost models, and perform value assessments to identify high-impact optimization opportunities.
• Design Review & Innovation: Analyze project designs, drawings, and technical submissions to uncover cost-saving and performance-enhancing solutions without compromising quality or functionality.
• Comprehensive Reporting: Develop and present detailed VE reports that outline actionable recommendations, implementation strategies, and anticipated benefits, tailored for senior stakeholders and clients.
• Pre-Study Coordination: Oversee pre-study activities, including data collection, stakeholder alignment, and logistical arrangements, to ensure seamless workshop execution.
• Workshop Facilitation: Lead multidisciplinary workshops, guiding teams through structured decision-making processes to foster collaboration and innovation.
• Alternative Evaluation: Assess design alternatives based on functionality, cost efficiency, sustainability, and project-specific requirements to recommend optimal solutions.
• Implementation Tracking: Monitor the execution of approved VE recommendations, track realized savings, and report on outcomes to stakeholders and leadership.
• Organizational Development: Contribute to the development and refinement of VE frameworks, procedures, and best practices to elevate the organization’s value engineering capabilities.
• Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a liaison between clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure alignment, transparency, and successful delivery of VE initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in engineering, project management, or infrastructure delivery, with at least 5 years dedicated to leading Value Engineering studies on major projects.
• Certification: Certified Value Specialist (CVS) by SAVE International is a mandatory requirement for this position.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in Function Analysis (FAST), cost modeling, life-cycle costing, and value assessment methodologies.
• Sector Experience: Proven track record in facilitating VE workshops within infrastructure, industrial, or municipal sectors, with a deep understanding of project lifecycle dynamics.
• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and develop innovative solutions to enhance project value.
• Communication & Presentation: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to senior stakeholders, clients, and cross-functional teams.
• Technical Aptitude: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and familiarity with industry-specific software tools.
• Collaboration & Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a multicultural, collaborative environment while adapting to evolving project demands and organizational priorities.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential; proficiency in Arabic is considered a valuable asset.
