Key Responsibilities

The Senior Accounting Officer will play a critical role in maintaining the financial health of Almarai by performing a wide range of duties, including:

• Financial Reporting and Compliance: Prepare and review accurate, timely, and compliant financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulatory requirements. Ensure all business units adhere to accounting policies and procedures.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with senior management to develop, monitor, and analyze budgets and financial forecasts. Provide insights and recommendations to optimize resource allocation and improve financial performance.
• Internal Controls and Audit Support: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks. Work closely with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with audit requirements and address any findings proactively.
• Strategic Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement. Present actionable insights to leadership to support data-driven decision-making.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various departments, including operations, supply chain, and procurement, to align financial goals with business objectives. Serve as a trusted advisor to business unit leaders on financial matters.
• Team Leadership and Development: Mentor and guide a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high performance. Ensure the team is equipped to meet evolving business needs.
• Technology and Process Improvement: Leverage accounting software and financial systems to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and support digital transformation initiatives. Identify opportunities to automate routine tasks and improve reporting accuracy.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or CMA) is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior accounting or financial leadership role. Experience in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) sector is a strong advantage.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), advanced Excel skills, and a solid understanding of IFRS and local tax regulations. Experience with financial consolidation and reporting tools is essential.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
