Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Control Engineer (PMC) to join our dynamic team at John Wood Group PLC, based in Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the successful execution of complex projects by overseeing project controls, scheduling, cost management, and risk assessment. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining project alignment with organizational objectives, timelines, and budgetary constraints while delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using industry-standard tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish realistic timelines, milestones, and critical paths to ensure timely project delivery.
- Cost Control and Budget Management: Monitor project expenditures, track variances, and implement corrective actions to prevent budget overruns. Prepare accurate cost forecasts, analyze financial data, and provide actionable insights to senior management to support informed decision-making.
- Risk Management: Identify potential project risks, assess their impact, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions. Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards to maintain a secure work environment.
- Performance Reporting: Generate and distribute comprehensive project reports, including progress updates, KPIs, and variance analyses. Present findings to stakeholders and senior leadership to facilitate transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a liaison between project teams, clients, contractors, and internal departments to ensure seamless communication and alignment. Facilitate meetings, resolve conflicts, and address concerns to maintain productive working relationships.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure adherence to contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and compliance reports, to support audits and legal reviews.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, you must possess a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, complemented by a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project controls within the oil & gas, energy, or infrastructure sectors. Proficiency in project management software, such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or SAP, is essential. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex data are critical for success.
Candidates should demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capacity to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders. A proactive approach to problem-solving, coupled with a commitment to continuous improvement, will be highly valued. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Arabic is a plus. Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent are advantageous.
