Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Reliability Engineer — Aluminum Recycling to lead the establishment and implementation of the reliability and asset management function for our new Aluminum Recycling Plant in Ras Al Khair, Eastern Saudi Arabia. This is a unique opportunity to shape the maintenance and reliability framework of a greenfield facility from the ground up, ensuring optimal equipment performance, maximum availability, and cost-efficient operations from the very first day of production. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in reliability engineering within the aluminum, casthouse, or heavy process industries and a proven track record of designing and deploying maintenance systems in new or commissioning environments.

Key Responsibilities

The Reliability Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive reliability strategy tailored to the Aluminum Recycling Plant. This includes designing maintenance management systems, defining criticality frameworks, and establishing preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure operational reliability and sustainability. The role demands a proactive approach to asset management, with a focus on minimizing downtime, optimizing life-cycle costs, and embedding a culture of reliability across maintenance and operations teams.

Core Accountabilities

  • Maintenance Systems & Reliability Strategy Development:
    • Design and implement the plant’s maintenance management system, including CMMS/EAM asset hierarchy, equipment register, and maintenance data structure.
    • Develop an equipment criticality assessment framework and risk ranking for all recycling equipment, such as scrap processing and sortation systems, delacquering units, melting and casting furnaces, homogenizing equipment, sawing machines, and utilities.
    • Establish a robust preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM) program, including maintenance task libraries and job plans tailored to the plant’s operational needs.
    • Define the spare parts philosophy, including critical spares identification, min/max stock levels, and insurance-spare strategies to ensure operational continuity.
    • Set and monitor reliability KPIs, such as equipment availability, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), with a structured reporting framework.
  • Reliability Engineering & Continuous Improvement:
    • Lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for chronic and high-impact equipment failures, driving corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Apply Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and bad-actor analysis to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
    • Support commissioning and early operational phases by providing reliability input, ensuring assets are handed over with complete and mature maintenance strategies in place.
    • Monitor asset performance, analyze failure and downtime data, and identify opportunities for reliability improvements and cost optimization.
    • Support life-cycle cost analysis and asset replacement decisions to maximize long-term operational efficiency.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure all reliability and maintenance strategies adhere to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards, with a particular focus on mitigating risks associated with molten metal handling, combustion processes, and delacquering operations.
    • Promote a safety-first culture within the reliability and maintenance teams, fostering compliance with all regulatory and corporate safety protocols.
  • Team Leadership & Culture Building:
    • Embed a reliability-focused culture by coaching maintenance and operations teams on best practices in reliability engineering and asset management.
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and engineering, to align reliability strategies with plant objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related engineering discipline. A certification such as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in maintenance and reliability engineering within the aluminum, casthouse, primary metals, or heavy process industries. Prior experience in designing and implementing maintenance systems and reliability strategies—particularly in a greenfield or commissioning environment—is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CMMS/EAM systems such as SAP PM or Maximo, with a strong understanding of criticality assessment methodologies, reliability engineering principles, and asset management best practices.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Strong leadership capabilities and a commitment to safety and operational excellence are critical.

Location & Work Environment

This position is based at our state-of-the-art Aluminum Recycling Plant in Ras Al Khair, Eastern Saudi Arabia. The role operates on an 8-hour work schedule and offers a dynamic and challenging environment where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Maaden’s recycling operations. The position is available for a fixed duration from July 16, 2026, to July 30, 2026.
