Network Engineer – Onsite Field Support Engineer (Freelance Contract) – Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer to provide onsite infrastructure and datacenter support services in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This freelance/B2B contract role is designed for professionals with a strong background in network infrastructure, field engineering, and hands-on technical support. Key Responsibilities

The Network Engineer will be responsible for executing a wide range of onsite technical tasks, including infrastructure installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Core duties include:

• Onsite Infrastructure Support: Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of network and datacenter equipment, including physical and virtual servers, storage systems, SAN switches, and network devices.
• Rack & Stack Operations: Conduct rack installations, cable management, patching, and labeling in compliance with industry standards and organizational protocols.
• IMAC & Break-Fix Support: Execute Install, Move, Add, and Change (IMAC) operations and resolve hardware, connectivity, and network issues through systematic troubleshooting and component replacement.
• Hardware & Network Diagnostics: Perform diagnostic testing, reseating of components, device replacements, and fiber optic cleaning. Utilize tools such as OTDR, LSPM, and VFL for connectivity validation and loopback installations.
• Collaborative Support: Coordinate closely with remote Level 3 support teams and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless resolution of technical issues and alignment with project objectives.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records of all activities, including ticket updates, asset tagging, cable management logs, and infrastructure documentation in designated management systems.

Technical Scope & Equipment Proficiency

The role requires hands-on experience with a diverse range of networking and datacenter technologies, including:

• Physical and virtual servers
• Storage and backup devices, including SAN switches and tape storage units
• Network switches, firewalls, routers, and access points
• Cisco UCS and hyper-converged infrastructure solutions
• WAN optimization devices and KVM systems
• Structured cabling and cable management infrastructure

Required Skills & Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following:

• Proven experience in IT infrastructure, networking, and datacenter environments.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals and Active Directory environments.
• Hands-on expertise in server and network hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience in IMAC processes, break-fix support, and onsite field engineering operations.
• Familiarity with backup and recovery methodologies, as well as tape management systems.
• Ability to work autonomously in fast-paced, dispatch-driven settings with minimal supervision.
• Excellent troubleshooting acumen and clear, professional communication skills.
