Control & Protection Design Engineer

The Control & Protection Design Engineer is the technical custodian of design works, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, reliable, and efficient solutions within committed budget, deadline, and quality parameters, while meeting customer expectations and promoting ease of installation, operation, and maintenance.

As a Lead Engineer specializing in High Voltage Substation Control, protection, and low voltage systems, your primary responsibility is to ensure the design's reliability, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, support for project documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Your core tasks include designing and integrating the Control system, protection system, electrical distribution, telecom, and monitoring of High Voltage substations. This encompasses creating single line diagrams, schematic diagrams, protection systems, electrical consumption designs, auxiliary services, interlocking, communication, and network designs.

• Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Minimum 8 years of engineering experience in related activities in a project and EPC environment, focusing on T&D, STATCOM, and HV substations
• Up to 20% travel within MEA, Europe, and other regions
• Strong oral and written English

• Desired Characteristics:
• Knowledge of project organization and engineering processes
• Minimum 5 years' experience with SEC in KSA, with experience in Synchro Condensers in HV substations being a plus
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement
• Ability to provide technical support to customers and project teams
• Experience in initiating and supporting equipment procurement
• Compliance with quality processes, procedures, and GE policies
• Strong technical problem-solving skills
• Discipline design reviews and gate reviews planning and execution
• Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) integration and mitigation plan formalization
• Discipline provisional document list preparation and alignment with project time schedules
• Full set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) followed on a monthly basis
• Design management tools usage and coherent data submission
• Design change process implementation
• Management of engineering subcontractors on specific work packages
• Overseeing the commissioning and testing of Low voltage systems
