Procurement Engineer

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Material and Equipment Procurement: Identify, evaluate, and procure construction materials, machinery, and tools required for project execution, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and budgetary constraints.
• Supplier Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to secure favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules. Conduct regular performance evaluations to ensure supplier reliability and accountability.
• Contract Negotiation and Administration: Lead negotiations for procurement contracts, including pricing, delivery timelines, and payment terms. Review and administer contracts to mitigate risks and ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
• Cost Optimization: Analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality. Collaborate with project managers and financial teams to develop procurement strategies that align with organizational goals.
• Logistics and Supply Chain Coordination: Work closely with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of procured items to project sites. Monitor shipment statuses, resolve logistical challenges, and coordinate with internal stakeholders to minimize disruptions.
• Quality Assurance: Verify that all procured materials and equipment meet specified quality standards and regulatory compliance. Conduct inspections and coordinate with quality control teams to address any discrepancies promptly.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier communications. Prepare detailed reports on procurement performance, cost analysis, and risk assessments for senior management review.
• Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the procurement process, such as supply chain disruptions or vendor non-compliance, and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard project timelines and budgets.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, and industry knowledge. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in procurement, preferably within the construction, engineering, or trading sectors in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region.
• Strong understanding of procurement methodologies, contract law, and supply chain management principles.
• Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems, such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, assess market trends, and make informed procurement decisions.
• Fluency in English and Arabic, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
