Senior Instrumentation Engineer – Al Khafjī

Penspen is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Instrumentation Engineer to join our dynamic team in Al Khafjī. This critical role is designed for a seasoned professional who will play a pivotal part in the design, development, and optimization of instrumentation systems for oil and gas facilities. Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Instrumentation Engineer, you will be responsible for a wide range of technical and project-related duties, including:

• System Design and Engineering: Lead the conceptual design, detailed engineering, and implementation of advanced instrumentation and control systems, ensuring alignment with project specifications and industry best practices.
• Project Leadership: Provide technical oversight and guidance to junior engineers and multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring project deliverables meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure all instrumentation systems comply with international codes, standards, and client-specific requirements, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and environmental sustainability.
• Troubleshooting and Optimization: Diagnose and resolve complex instrumentation issues, implementing corrective actions to enhance system performance and minimize downtime.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports, to support project execution and regulatory submissions.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key technical liaison with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, providing expert advice and ensuring clear communication throughout project lifecycles.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering; a Master’s degree or professional certification is a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in instrumentation engineering, with a strong background in oil and gas, petrochemical, or related industries.
• Proficiency in industry-standard software tools, such as DCS, PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, as well as CAD and simulation software.
• In-depth knowledge of international standards, including IEC, ISA, API, and ATEX, with a keen understanding of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and functional safety (SIL).li>
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a proven track record of mentoring and developing technical teams.
• Professional registration or certification, such as PE, CEng, or equivalent, is highly desirable.
