Senior Electrical Engineer – Al Khafjī

Penspen is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Al Khafjī. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing electrical systems that support large-scale industrial and utility projects. Your leadership and technical acumen will be instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of projects that meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for a wide range of technical and managerial duties, including but not limited to:

• System Design and Development: Lead the conceptualization, design, and implementation of complex electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation. Ensure designs comply with international standards and regulatory requirements.
• Project Leadership: Oversee the electrical engineering aspects of projects from inception to completion, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including civil, mechanical, and process engineers, as well as project managers and clients. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
• Technical Analysis and Optimization: Conduct detailed electrical load calculations, short-circuit studies, arc flash analyses, and power quality assessments to enhance system efficiency and reliability. Utilize advanced software tools such as ETAP, AutoCAD, and SKM PowerTools for simulation and analysis.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure all electrical designs and installations adhere to local and international safety standards, including NFPA 70 (NEC), IEC 60364, and OSHA regulations. Implement best practices for electrical safety and hazard mitigation in all project phases.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a primary technical liaison between Penspen, clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities. Present technical proposals, reports, and findings to stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of complex engineering concepts.
• Innovation and Sustainability: Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices in electrical engineering, such as renewable energy integration, energy efficiency improvements, and smart grid solutions. Contribute to Penspen’s commitment to environmental stewardship and operational excellence.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, drawings, calculations, and compliance reports. Ensure all project deliverables are accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PE, CEng) is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role. Experience in the oil and gas, utilities, or heavy industrial sectors is preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of electrical system design, power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation. Proficiency with industry-standard software tools such as ETAP, AutoCAD, SKM PowerTools, and PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with international electrical codes and standards, including NFPA 70 (NEC), IEC 60364, IEEE standards, and local regulatory requirements in the Middle East.
• Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to present complex technical information to diverse audiences.
• Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues, optimize system performance, and develop innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
• Cultural Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, with a commitment to fostering collaboration and inclusivity. Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
