Senior Structural Engineer – Riyadh

Buro Happold is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Riyadh. In this pivotal role, you will play a key part in designing, analyzing, and delivering innovative structural solutions for a diverse range of projects across the Middle East. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will leverage your expertise to lead projects from conceptual design through to construction, ensuring technical excellence, sustainability, and compliance with international standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and overseeing the structural design process to meet project objectives, budgets, and timelines.
• Design and Analysis: Develop and optimize structural systems using advanced software and engineering principles, ensuring safety, functionality, and aesthetic integration. Conduct detailed structural analysis, including load calculations, finite element modeling, and dynamic response assessments.
• Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with architects, MEP engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate structural solutions seamlessly into overall project designs. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to align structural strategies with client requirements and regulatory standards.
• Technical Documentation: Prepare comprehensive structural drawings, specifications, and reports in accordance with industry best practices and project documentation standards. Ensure clarity and accuracy in all technical deliverables.
• Quality Assurance: Review and validate structural designs, calculations, and construction documents to maintain the highest standards of quality and compliance with local and international codes, such as IBC, Eurocodes, and Saudi Building Code.
• Innovation and Sustainability: Drive the adoption of sustainable and resilient structural solutions, incorporating cutting-edge materials and technologies to enhance project performance and reduce environmental impact.
• Client and Stakeholder Engagement: Represent Buro Happold in client meetings, presentations, and technical discussions, demonstrating expertise and building strong professional relationships. Address client inquiries and provide strategic recommendations to support project success.
• Continuous Professional Development: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure the application of the latest advancements in structural engineering. Participate in training, workshops, and professional organizations to enhance technical and leadership skills.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Professional registration or Chartered Engineer status (e.g., P.E., CEng, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with a strong portfolio of completed projects in sectors such as commercial, residential, infrastructure, or specialized structures.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software, including ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, Revit Structure, or similar tools.
• In-depth knowledge of international and local structural codes and standards, with a focus on the Middle East region.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Strong project management capabilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Fluency in English is essential; additional proficiency in Arabic is advantageous.
