Role Overview

As a Senior Medical Science Liaison – Rare Disease, you will play a critical role in our Medical Affairs team within the Western Region of KSA. This position is pivotal in bridging the gap between AstraZeneca’s scientific expertise and clinical practice, ensuring that our rare disease therapies are effectively integrated into patient care. Rare diseases represent a unique and rapidly evolving field, with over 7,000 identified conditions—yet fewer than 1% have approved treatments. Your contributions will directly impact patient outcomes by fostering collaboration with healthcare professionals (HCPs), patient advocacy groups, and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will serve as a trusted scientific resource, providing medical and clinical expertise to HCPs, including physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and pharmacists. Your responsibilities will include:

• Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with HCPs and key external experts (KEEs) to understand clinical practice trends, unmet medical needs, and scientific knowledge gaps. Act as a liaison between AstraZeneca and the medical community to ensure alignment with our strategic objectives.
• Scientific and Clinical Support: Deliver accurate, balanced, and scientifically rigorous information about our rare disease therapies, including emerging data and therapeutic advancements. Ensure that all communications adhere to regulatory and compliance standards while maintaining a patient-focused approach.
• Educational Initiatives: Develop and execute educational programs to enhance disease state awareness and the appropriate use of our therapies. These programs will be designed to address local medical community needs and support the integration of our medicines into clinical practice.
• Insight Gathering: Collect and analyze customer insights regarding the use of our therapies and the broader therapeutic landscape. Share these insights with internal teams to inform both medical and commercial strategies, ensuring they are data-driven and patient-centric.
• Expertise and Compliance: Maintain deep expertise in rare disease management, including emerging therapies and clinical best practices. Stay current with the latest scientific developments and regulatory requirements to ensure all activities comply with internal policies and external guidelines.
• Collaborative Projects: Participate in scientific activities, such as clinical trials and non-interventional studies, in collaboration with HCPs. These initiatives will help advance disease understanding and support AstraZeneca’s broader medical strategy.
