Position Overview

The Procurement Engineer - MEP Projects (Saudi Talent) will be based in Riyadh and play a pivotal role in driving the procurement activities for HVAC/MEP projects across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This position is instrumental in ensuring the timely acquisition of high-quality materials, equipment, and subcontracting services while maintaining strict adherence to technical specifications, budgetary constraints, and project timelines. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, project management, operations, and finance, to facilitate seamless project execution and uphold Daikin’s reputation for excellence in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Procurement Management: Oversee the entire procurement lifecycle, from material requisition and supplier evaluation to final delivery, ensuring alignment with project requirements and company standards.
  • Technical Compliance & Evaluation: Review technical specifications, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), drawings, and procurement requests to verify compliance with project needs. Conduct thorough techno-commercial evaluations to identify cost-effective and technically sound solutions.
  • Supplier & Subcontractor Management: Source, prequalify, and develop relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors. Perform comprehensive assessments to ensure reliability, quality, and competitive pricing.
  • Negotiation & Contracting: Lead negotiations on pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and contractual conditions. Issue Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as a liaison between procurement, engineering, estimation, project management, warehouse, and finance teams to ensure seamless material availability and project progression.
  • Procurement Monitoring & Expediting: Track procurement schedules, expedite critical materials, and oversee manufacturing progress, inspections, logistics, customs clearance, and site deliveries to mitigate delays.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate procurement records, vendor documentation, tracking reports, and supplier performance evaluations within ERP/SAP systems. Generate insights through procurement KPIs and market trend analysis to support strategic sourcing decisions.
  • Supplier Engagement & Development: Participate in supplier meetings, factory visits, and technical clarifications to enhance procurement performance. Contribute to vendor development programs aimed at improving supplier capabilities and reliability.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior procurement engineers and coordinators, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years in procurement, with a focus on HVAC, MEP, or industrial projects.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of HVAC equipment procurement, including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF systems, ventilation systems, pumps, valves, and related MEP materials. Proficiency in interpreting technical specifications, BOQs, and commercial terms.
  • Regional Experience: Prior experience collaborating with HVAC contractors, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and regional suppliers within the KSA/GCC markets is highly advantageous.
  • Core Skills:
    • Exceptional negotiation, vendor management, and commercial evaluation capabilities.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic project environment while managing multiple priorities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems, and SAP.
    • Familiarity with local procurement regulations and market dynamics in Saudi Arabia.
