IBM DataPower & API Connect Administrator

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IBM DataPower & IBM API Connect (APIC) Administrator to join our dynamic team based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the administration, optimization, and security of enterprise-level API gateway and management platforms. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience in managing Production and UAT environments, ensuring seamless API deployments, and maintaining robust security standards. Your expertise will be pivotal in driving the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of our API infrastructure, supporting both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The IBM DataPower & API Connect Administrator will play a central role in the following areas:

• IBM DataPower Gateway & API Connect Administration: Manage and administer IBM DataPower Gateway and IBM API Connect (APIC) environments to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
• Environment Management: Oversee Production and UAT environments, implementing best practices to maintain reliability, scalability, and optimal performance.
• API Deployment & Configuration: Deploy, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot APIs and gateway services, ensuring seamless integration with enterprise systems.
• Migration to OpenShift: Lead the migration of APIs and services from Virtual Machine (VM)-based environments to OpenShift, leveraging containerized deployments for enhanced flexibility and efficiency.
• API Lifecycle & Security Management: Configure and manage API lifecycle processes, security policies, SSL certificates, gateway services, and access controls to safeguard sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
• Collaboration & Support: Work closely with development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to facilitate smooth deployments, release activities, and incident resolution.
• System Monitoring & Performance Tuning: Proactively monitor system health, perform performance tuning, and resolve production incidents to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted service.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate operational documentation and adhere to ITIL best practices to support audit requirements and operational excellence.

Requirements

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• Mandatory Experience: Hands-on experience with Akamai Noname API Security is required. Candidates with equivalent experience in API security platforms such as Salt Security, Traceable AI, or Imperva API Security will also be considered.
• Technical Expertise: Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience administering IBM DataPower Gateway and IBM API Connect (APIC) in enterprise environments.
• Environment Management: Proven experience managing Production and UAT environments with a focus on high availability and reliability.
• OpenShift & Containerization: Strong hands-on experience with OpenShift and containerized deployments, including API migration from VM-based environments to OpenShift.
• API & Security Knowledge: In-depth understanding of REST APIs, API security principles, OAuth, JWT, TLS, and SSL certificates.
• Linux & Networking: Solid knowledge of Linux administration and networking concepts to support API infrastructure.
• Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following qualifications will enhance your candidacy:

• Industry Experience: Prior experience working on projects within the banking or financial services sector.
• Enterprise API Management: Familiarity with enterprise API management platforms and best practices.
• DevOps & CI/CD: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and containerized environments to streamline API development and deployment.
• Certifications: Relevant IBM certifications or cloud-related credentials will be considered advantageous.
