Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Supervisor to join our dynamic team at Nomac – Neom Green Hydrogen. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in upholding the highest standards of Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) compliance across our cutting-edge project sites. Reporting to the HSSE Manager or Project Manager, you will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing robust HSSE policies and procedures to ensure a safe, secure, and environmentally responsible workplace. Your expertise will be instrumental in preventing incidents, protecting our workforce and assets, and maintaining unwavering compliance with legal, client, and corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities
The HSE Supervisor will oversee a comprehensive range of HSSE activities, ensuring that all operations align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Health & Safety Oversight:
- Supervise daily HSSE operations across multiple project sites to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Conduct routine workplace inspections to proactively identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and potential risks.
- Enforce compliance with company HSSE procedures, client-specific requirements, and applicable local and international regulations.
- Monitor and ensure the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) among all personnel.
- Lead daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, and induction sessions for new employees to foster a culture of safety awareness.
- Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Risk Assessment activities to mitigate workplace hazards.
- Exercise authority to halt unsafe work immediately and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee permit-to-work systems to ensure strict compliance and proper documentation.
- Incident Management & Investigation:
- Lead thorough investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses, and property damage events to determine root causes.
- Prepare detailed and accurate incident investigation reports, including recommendations for corrective and preventive measures.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all incidents, near misses, and corrective actions for analysis and reporting.
- Environmental Stewardship:
- Monitor and enforce environmental controls, including waste management, pollution prevention, and spill response protocols.
- Ensure strict compliance with environmental permits and regulatory standards to minimize ecological impact.
- Conduct environmental inspections and audits to verify adherence to sustainability practices and corporate policies.
- Promote and implement sustainable work practices to support the organization’s environmental commitments.
- Security & Emergency Preparedness:
- Coordinate site security requirements to safeguard personnel, assets, and sensitive information.
- Enforce access control procedures and monitor compliance to prevent unauthorized entry.
- Report security incidents promptly and recommend improvements to enhance site protection.
- Coordinate emergency response efforts during security-related events, including evacuations and lockdowns.
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning and conduct regular emergency drills, including fire drills and evacuation exercises.
- Ensure all emergency equipment is operational, inspected, and readily available for use.
- Compliance & Auditing:
- Conduct internal HSSE inspections and audits to assess compliance with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and company management systems.
- Track and follow up on corrective actions until full closure to ensure continuous improvement.
- Assist during client and regulatory inspections to demonstrate adherence to HSSE standards.
- Training & Awareness:
- Develop and deliver comprehensive HSSE training programs tailored to site-specific needs.
- Mentor supervisors and workers on safe work practices, hazard recognition, and risk mitigation techniques.
- Promote safety awareness campaigns to cultivate a proactive safety culture across all levels of the organization.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain meticulous HSSE records, including inspection checklists, training logs, risk registers, and corrective action logs.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly HSSE reports to management, highlighting trends, risks, and compliance status.
- Update risk registers and corrective action logs to reflect ongoing assessments and interventions.
Qualifications & Experience
To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Certifications: Professional HSSE certifications such as NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC), IOSH Managing Safely, or OSHA 30-Hour are highly preferred. First Aid and Fire Safety certifications are considered advantageous.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive HSSE experience in construction, industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, or oil & gas projects.
- Proven track record in supervising field safety activities and leading safety initiatives.
- Hands-on experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, and permit-to-work system audits.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, environmental management practices, and hazard identification techniques.
- Exceptional communication and leadership abilities to influence and engage teams at all levels.
- Strong report writing and documentation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Capacity to deliver engaging safety training sessions and presentations.
- Aptitude for working under pressure, making critical decisions, and responding effectively to emergencies.
