Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Data Extraction and Scraping: Develop and optimize Python-based scripts to scrape structured and unstructured data from websites, APIs, and other digital sources. Implement efficient parsing and data cleaning techniques to ensure high-quality output.
• Automation and Maintenance: Design automated scraping workflows to minimize manual intervention and enhance scalability. Monitor and maintain existing scraping solutions to ensure uninterrupted data flow and address any technical challenges.
• Data Processing and Transformation: Apply data transformation techniques to clean, normalize, and structure scraped data for integration into databases or analytics platforms. Ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards.
• Performance Optimization: Enhance the efficiency and speed of scraping processes by optimizing algorithms, leveraging parallel processing, and implementing caching mechanisms where applicable.
• Error Handling and Debugging: Identify and resolve issues related to data extraction, including handling dynamic content, CAPTCHAs, and anti-scraping mechanisms. Implement robust error-handling and logging frameworks to ensure reliability.
• Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, engineers, and product managers, to understand data requirements and deliver tailored solutions. Maintain comprehensive documentation of scraping methodologies, code, and processes for future reference.
• Compliance and Ethical Considerations: Ensure all scraping activities adhere to legal and ethical guidelines, including respecting website terms of service and data protection regulations such as GDPR or local laws.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with Python, particularly in libraries such as BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, Selenium, and Requests. Familiarity with RESTful APIs and web scraping frameworks is essential.
• Data Processing: Strong background in data cleaning, transformation, and ETL processes using tools like Pandas, NumPy, or Apache Spark.
• Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex scraping challenges, including handling JavaScript-rendered content, pagination, and session management.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
