About Saudi Gold Refinery

Saudi Gold Refinery (SGR) is a leading Saudi mining and precious-metals enterprise specializing in the refining of gold and other precious metals, bullion production, and high-value precious-metal services. As a key player within the Kingdom’s mining value chain, SGR is fully aligned with Vision 2030’s mining pillar and operates under the regulatory oversight of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources (MIM), adhering to both Saudi and international standards. The company is committed to producing responsibly sourced, fully traceable, and certified bullion that meets LBMA Good Delivery and ISO-aligned quality standards. SGR invests significantly in its people, processes, and robust internal controls to ensure the integrity and excellence of every bar it manufactures.

Role Overview

Saudi Gold Refinery (SGR) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is pivotal in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring seamless reconciliation processes across our refining operations. The Accountant will be responsible for upholding the integrity of the general ledger, supporting critical month-end close activities, and ensuring full compliance with Saudi tax regulations. Working closely with the Finance Manager, this position plays a vital role in producing timely and accurate financial statements that reflect the true cost of refining and the valuation of bullion inventory.

The ideal candidate will be a meticulous professional capable of managing VAT compliance, conducting inventory reconciliations, and providing essential payroll support within a highly regulated industrial environment. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic organization at the forefront of Saudi Arabia’s mining and precious-metals sector.

Key Responsibilities

The Accountant will be entrusted with the following core financial management and compliance responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger by accurately posting journal entries for refining costs, bullion inventory movements, and corporate expenses to ensure financial transparency and accountability.
  • Tax Compliance: Calculate and file monthly and quarterly VAT returns through the ZATCA portal in strict accordance with Saudi tax laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Inventory Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of physical bullion and dore inventory counts against system records to promptly identify and resolve any discrepancies, ensuring inventory accuracy.
  • Monthly Close Support: Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for critical accounts, including cash, inventory, and accrued liabilities, to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Fixed Asset Management: Maintain the fixed asset register and compute depreciation for plant equipment, laboratory instruments, and corporate assets to reflect their true financial value.
  • Audit Preparation: Compile audit schedules and gather supporting documentation for external auditors during interim and final audits, facilitating smooth and efficient audit processes.
  • Cost Accounting Support: Allocate refining costs, such as chemicals and energy, to specific production batches to ensure precise cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting and enhance operational cost visibility.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following essential requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within an industrial, manufacturing, or trading environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Saudi VAT regulations and hands-on experience with ZATCA filing requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in general ledger accounting, accrual accounting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Proven experience in inventory accounting and cost allocation methodologies.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including the use of pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory for all reporting and communication purposes, with working proficiency in Arabic considered a valuable asset.

  • Experience working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, including SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Familiarity with LBMA financial reporting requirements or precious metal valuation standards.
  • Background in fixed asset management within a heavy industrial or plant environment.
