Testing & Commissioning Engineer (HV Substations)
الوصف الوظيفي
Job Purpose
As a Testing & Commissioning Engineer (HV Substations), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) substation projects. Your primary responsibility will involve conducting comprehensive testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and energization activities to validate system performance, adherence to project specifications, and compliance with stringent safety and industry standards. This role demands a high level of technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
In this dynamic and challenging position, your core duties will include:
- Substation Testing & Commissioning: Execute pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for HV/EHV substations ranging from 13.8kV to 380kV, including power transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, current transformers (CTs), voltage transformers (VTs/CVTs), protection & control panels, SCADA systems, and communication networks.
- Protection & Control Systems: Conduct rigorous testing and configuration of protection relays, secondary injection, and primary injection tests to ensure optimal performance and reliability of the substation’s protection schemes.
- Transformer Testing: Perform detailed transformer testing, including turns ratio (TTR), winding resistance, insulation resistance, and functional tests, to verify operational integrity and compliance with technical specifications.
- System Verification & Troubleshooting: Validate interlocks, control logic, and protection schemes to identify and resolve potential issues during commissioning. Provide expert troubleshooting support to address equipment and system anomalies, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
- Energization & Synchronization: Support critical energization and synchronization activities, ensuring that all systems are safely and efficiently brought online while adhering to project timelines and safety protocols.
- Documentation & Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive commissioning procedures, test reports, and punch lists. Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and final commissioning reports to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with clients, consultants, and project teams to facilitate smooth commissioning activities, address technical queries, and ensure alignment with project objectives and client requirements.
- Safety & Quality Compliance: Uphold the highest standards of safety and quality throughout all testing and commissioning activities, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and organizational policies.
Qualifications & Competencies
To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and competencies:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in HV substation testing and commissioning, with a proven track record in AIS/GIS substations up to 132kV, 220kV, or 380kV.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in testing and commissioning of power transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, CTs, VTs, protection relays, and SCADA systems.
- Strong understanding of secondary and primary injection testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with international standards and safety protocols for HV substations.
- Core Competencies:
- Technical Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to evaluating system performance.
- Safety Awareness: Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to all safety regulations.
- Planning & Coordination: Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders effectively.
- Communication & Reporting: Clear and concise communication skills to liaise with teams and document findings accurately.
- Teamwork & Leadership: Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and lead commissioning activities with confidence.
