Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Traffic Engineer to join our dynamic team in Jeddah. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of professional experience in transportation and traffic engineering, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects. This role is critical to supporting the planning, design, and implementation of road infrastructure projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable traffic systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, planners, highway engineers, and government authorities, to develop innovative solutions that meet both client and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The Traffic Engineer will be responsible for a diverse range of duties, including:
- Traffic Impact Assessments (TIA): Conduct comprehensive traffic impact assessments and transportation studies for urban development and infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with local and international standards.
- Traffic Modeling and Analysis: Perform advanced traffic modeling, forecasting, and capacity analysis using industry-leading software to evaluate current and future traffic conditions.
- Traffic Management Plans (TMPs): Develop detailed traffic management plans for both construction and operational phases of projects, ensuring minimal disruption to traffic flow and public safety.
- Traffic Signal and Road Design: Design and review traffic signal systems, road signage, pavement markings, and intersection layouts to optimize traffic efficiency and safety.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare traffic reports, technical specifications, engineering calculations, and comprehensive project evaluations to support decision-making processes.
- Data Analysis and Field Observations: Analyze traffic data collected through surveys, counts, and field observations to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate closely with project managers, planners, highway engineers, and government authorities to ensure seamless project execution and compliance with regulations.
- Road Safety Audits: Support road safety audits, traffic safety evaluations, and accident analysis studies to enhance road safety and reduce incident risks.
- Client Engagement: Participate in client meetings and presentations, providing expert technical recommendations and solutions tailored to project objectives.
- Review and Compliance: Review consultant and contractor submissions related to traffic engineering works to ensure adherence to project specifications and regulatory standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience: A minimum of 5–7 years of relevant professional experience in traffic and transportation engineering, with a focus on urban infrastructure, highway, or large-scale development projects.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of transportation planning principles, traffic engineering standards, and proficiency in industry-standard software, including:
- SIDRA Intersection
- Synchro/SimTraffic
- VISSIM
- VISUM
- AutoCAD
- Civil 3D
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with international standards such as AASHTO, MUTCD, HCM, and local authority requirements, particularly in the GCC/Middle East region.
- Language Skills: Fluency in both Arabic and English (spoken and written) is highly preferred.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, report-writing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
- Analytical Abilities: Strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering high-quality, compliant solutions.
Preferred Experience
While not mandatory, candidates with the following experience will be given preference:
- Experience working on smart mobility or large-scale development projects.
- Familiarity with GCC/Middle East transportation regulations and authority requirements.
- Prior experience coordinating with municipalities, transport authorities, and regulatory agencies.
