Key Responsibilities

The Senior Accounting Officer will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of financial processes within Almarai. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:

• Financial Leadership: Provide strategic direction and oversight to accounting teams across all business units, ensuring alignment with corporate financial goals and regulatory requirements.
• Financial Reporting and Compliance: Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulatory guidelines. Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to stakeholders, including senior management and external auditors.
• Internal Controls and Risk Management: Develop, implement, and monitor robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks. Collaborate with internal audit teams to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process, including the preparation of annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and variance analyses. Provide actionable insights to senior leadership to support data-driven decision-making.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with finance, operations, and executive teams to streamline financial processes, optimize resource allocation, and drive operational efficiency across all business units.
• Team Development and Mentorship: Foster a high-performance culture within the accounting team by providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members. Encourage continuous learning and innovation to enhance team capabilities.
• Stakeholder Communication: Act as a key liaison between the accounting department and other departments, as well as external stakeholders such as auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies. Ensure clear and transparent communication of financial performance and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or managerial role. Prior experience in the food and beverage industry or a large multinational corporation is a strong plus.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with financial software and tools for reporting and analysis is essential.
• Leadership and Soft Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, with excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality.
• Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of IFRS, local accounting standards, and tax regulations in Saudi Arabia. Experience with corporate governance and audit processes is preferred.
