MEP Design Lead (Electrical) Airport experience

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MEP Design Lead (Electrical) with specialized expertise in airport infrastructure to join our dynamic team at Egis in Jeddah. In this pivotal role, you will lead the electrical design aspects of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) projects, ensuring compliance with international standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications. Key Responsibilities

• Project Leadership: Oversee the electrical design team, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and performance management to ensure the successful execution of MEP projects for airport facilities. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, civil engineers, and other stakeholders, to align electrical systems with overall project objectives.
• Design Development: Lead the development of comprehensive electrical designs for airport projects, including power distribution systems, lighting systems, fire alarm and life safety systems, communication networks, and sustainable energy solutions. Ensure designs adhere to local and international codes such as NFPA, IEC, and IATA standards.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all electrical designs meet stringent regulatory and safety requirements specific to airport environments, including FAA, ICAO, and local aviation authority guidelines. Conduct thorough reviews and risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards and ensure operational reliability.
• Technical Innovation: Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices in electrical design, such as energy-efficient lighting, smart grid solutions, and renewable energy integration. Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to source high-quality materials and equipment that align with project budgets and timelines.
• Client and Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary technical liaison between Egis and clients, including airport authorities, government agencies, and contractors. Present design proposals, conduct technical reviews, and address client concerns to foster long-term partnerships and project success.
• Budget and Schedule Management: Develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation for electrical design components. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety, and ensure timely delivery of design deliverables.
• Quality Assurance: Implement robust quality control processes to validate the accuracy and efficiency of electrical designs. Conduct peer reviews, site inspections, and performance testing to ensure systems meet performance benchmarks and client expectations.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PE, CEng, or LEED) are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in electrical design, with at least 5 years specifically focused on airport infrastructure projects. Proven track record in leading MEP design teams and delivering complex projects within budget and schedule constraints.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, Dialux) and familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodologies. Strong understanding of power distribution, lighting design, fire alarm systems, and sustainable energy solutions.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of international and local standards for airport electrical systems, including NFPA 70 (NEC), IEC 60364, IATA guidelines, and local Saudi Arabian regulations (e.g., SASO, GACA).
• Leadership and Communication: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and clients.
• Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges. Ability to think critically and propose innovative solutions under pressure.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
