Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant will be entrusted with a broad spectrum of financial and accounting duties, ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of TFC’s financial operations. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • General Ledger Management:
    • Oversee and maintain the general ledger with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the precise recording of daily journal entries.
    • Proactively identify and resolve general ledger discrepancies to facilitate seamless financial closing processes.
    • Review journal entries and supporting documentation to guarantee adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and TFC’s established accounting policies.
    • Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances across group entities to maintain financial cohesion and transparency.
  • Financial Closing Activities:
    • Lead and execute month-end and year-end closing procedures in strict alignment with the company’s approved financial calendar.
    • Prepare and review accruals, provisions, prepayments, and other essential closing adjustments to ensure financial accuracy.
    • Develop and validate intercompany elimination entries as part of the comprehensive group closing process.
    • Collaborate on the preparation of consolidation schedules and reporting packages to support group financial reporting requirements.
  • Account Reconciliation:
    • Conduct thorough monthly balance sheet reconciliations, supported by comprehensive documentation.
    • Ensure timely resolution of reconciliation discrepancies and follow up on outstanding items to prevent financial discrepancies.
    • Perform detailed reconciliations of intercompany balances and coordinate with related entities to resolve any discrepancies efficiently.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, management reports, schedules, and variance analyses to provide actionable insights for decision-making.
    • Support the development of group reporting schedules and consolidation inputs to enhance financial transparency.
    • Prepare and review financial information required for corporate management reporting and regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to all applicable standards.
  • Compliance and Audit Support:
    • Ensure full compliance with IFRS and TFC’s internal accounting policies, mitigating risks and enhancing financial governance.
    • Provide robust support during internal and external audits by delivering accurate documentation and clear explanations.
    • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of new or revised IFRS standards to maintain alignment with evolving regulatory requirements.
    • Uphold rigorous documentation and maintenance of accounting records in accordance with internal control protocols.
  • Systems and Process Improvement:
    • Leverage SAP for general ledger postings, financial reporting, and reconciliations to streamline accounting operations.
    • Contribute to the enhancement of accounting procedures and the strengthening of internal controls over financial reporting.
    • Drive continuous improvements in financial closing processes and reporting efficiency within the SAP environment.

Qualifications and Competencies

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following academic and professional criteria:

  • Academic Qualification:
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is highly desirable.
    • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards is essential for ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Professional Experience:
    • Minimum of 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong preference for roles in corporate finance, financial reporting, or general ledger management.
    • Proven hands-on experience with SAP accounting systems, with a focus on financial modules such as FI (Financial Accounting) and CO (Controlling).
    • Prior experience in multinational corporations, large organizations, or publicly listed companies is advantageous.
    • Demonstrated expertise in month-end and year-end closing, financial reporting, and balance sheet reconciliation processes.
    • Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly SAP, is required. Experience with other ERP platforms will be considered a plus.
    • Audit experience with Big4 firms or reputable audit organizations is a valuable asset.
  • Professional Certification:
    • Professional certifications such as SOCPA, ACCA, CPA, CMA, or CA (Intermediate) are preferred and will be highly regarded.
  • Core Competencies:
    • Expertise in financial reporting and IFRS compliance.
    • Proficiency in general ledger management and financial closing processes.
    • Strong analytical skills for account reconciliation and financial analysis.
    • Advanced proficiency in SAP and other relevant financial systems.
    • Commitment to maintaining robust internal controls and supporting audit functions.
