Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Fraud Data Lead to spearhead the development, implementation, and oversight of data-driven initiatives within our Anti-Fraud framework. This pivotal role will serve as the linchpin between business requirements and technological solutions, ensuring the seamless integration of data components into our Anti-Fraud Strategy, Technology Strategy, and broader Anti-Fraud Program. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of fraud detection methodologies, data analytics, and risk mitigation strategies, while demonstrating exceptional leadership in coordinating cross-functional efforts across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
The Fraud Data Lead will be responsible for the following core functions:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Drive the execution of the Anti-Fraud Strategy and its associated objectives, with a strong focus on technology and data integration.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to refine and adjust the Anti-Fraud Technology Strategy in response to evolving fraud landscapes and technological advancements.
- Ensure alignment between data initiatives and the broader Anti-Fraud Program to maximize effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Policy, Process, and Procedure Development:
- Oversee the implementation of the Anti-Fraud Framework, including the development and maintenance of policies, processes, and procedures related to technology and data.
- Proactively identify gaps or inefficiencies in existing frameworks and propose data-driven adjustments to enhance fraud detection and prevention capabilities.
- Escalate critical updates or revisions to Anti-Fraud Policies, Processes, and Procedures to senior leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment with organizational goals.
- Budget Management and Financial Oversight:
- Assist in the management of the budget allocated to the Fraud Systems & Analytics section, including licenses, maintenance, and system updates.
- Identify and advocate for scalable budget requirements to support the growth and enhancement of the Analytics section.
- Monitor budget utilization and expenditure plans, providing regular updates to stakeholders to ensure financial accountability.
- Operational Excellence and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for Senior Management, delivering timely and insightful reports on Anti-Financial Fraud data developments, trends, and incidents.
- Coordinate data development initiatives, ensuring clarity on project statuses, risks, and deliverables while escalating critical issues as needed.
- Develop and maintain coding scripts, design databases, and define data points to support fraud detection and analysis.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation in data analytics and fraud detection.
- Engage with external vendors and third parties to evaluate and integrate solutions that enhance our fraud detection capabilities.
- Fraud Detection and Risk Mitigation:
- Lead the analysis of emerging fraud trends, risk criteria, and high-risk customer segments to inform strategic decision-making.
- Develop and refine fraud strategies, rules, and monitoring frameworks using data queries, statistical analysis, decision tree models, and other advanced tools to predict fraud risks and forecast trends.
- Conduct ad-hoc reviews of internal systems, including finance and access security, to identify potential instances of internal fraud.
- Collaborate closely with Fraud Risk Advisors, Threat Intelligence Analysts, and Fraud Investigations teams to stay ahead of evolving fraud threats and incorporate intelligence into our monitoring systems.
- Define and map fraud-related data points, ensuring consistency in data formats and integration across systems.
- Develop comprehensive business requirements documents and maintain dynamic Management Information dashboards to track Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Fraud Risk Appetite metrics.
- Extract and analyze data to identify new trends, patterns, and anomalies, proposing additional controls or revised operational procedures based on findings.
- Optimize and adjust monitoring rules and scenarios in response to data analysis and emerging threats, ensuring our systems remain robust and adaptive.
- Source and integrate external data to provide a holistic view of the fraud landscape, enhancing our ability to identify and mitigate risks.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise, analytical acumen, and leadership skills to this role. Key qualifications include:
- A bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in fraud examination, analytics, or risk management are highly desirable.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in fraud detection, data analytics, or a related field, with a strong track record of developing and implementing data-driven fraud prevention strategies.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, or R, and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Expertise in designing and managing databases, as well as developing and optimizing data queries and statistical models.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
- Experience in budget management, financial oversight, and vendor engagement is a plus.
- Certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Data Scientist, or similar are advantageous.
