Shift Charge Engineer
الوصف الوظيفي
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shift Charge Engineer to oversee the operational excellence of our combined cycle power plant. In this critical leadership role, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of gas turbines, steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), and auxiliary systems, ensuring alignment with contractual and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong technical acumen, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety and operational integrity.
Key Responsibilities
As the Shift Charge Engineer, your core responsibilities will encompass the following areas:
- Operational Oversight: You will manage the day-to-day operations of the combined cycle power plant, ensuring all systems operate within design parameters while meeting the power generation demands outlined in the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). This includes continuous monitoring of load requirements and real-time adjustments to output to maintain grid stability and contractual compliance.
- Team Leadership and Development: You will lead, mentor, and supervise the operations team during each shift, fostering a culture of safety, reliability, and accountability. Your role will involve providing training and guidance to enhance operational capabilities and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Compliance and Regulatory Adherence: You will ensure strict compliance with all terms of the PPA, including availability, output, and reporting obligations. Additionally, you will uphold environmental regulations and operational standards to minimize ecological impact and promote sustainable plant operations.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Utilizing advanced plant control systems, you will monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational parameters, responding swiftly to alarms and anomalies to maintain safe and efficient operations. You will prepare detailed shift reports documenting operational performance, incidents, and any deviations from expected outputs or procedures.
- Emergency Response and Problem Resolution: As the first point of contact in emergency situations, you will coordinate response efforts and implement the plant’s emergency procedures with precision. You will lead troubleshooting initiatives to identify and resolve operational issues, collaborating with maintenance and engineering teams to restore optimal performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: You will work closely with maintenance teams to facilitate planned maintenance activities and operational improvements while minimizing disruptions to plant operations. Additionally, you will liaise with support departments, such as electrical and instrumentation teams, to address operational challenges and ensure seamless coordination.
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives: You will identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency enhancements, and operational best practices to align with contractual obligations. Your role will include engaging in professional development activities and industry training to stay current with advancements in power generation technology.
- Documentation and Records Management: You will maintain accurate logs of plant operations, safety checks, and compliance documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards. You will ensure timely reporting of operational data to management and relevant stakeholders, including compliance with PPA reporting requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical) or a related field is required. Relevant certifications in power plant operation or management are highly desirable.
- Experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience in power plant operations is essential, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Prior experience in combined cycle plants is strongly preferred, and familiarity with Siemens GT-based combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) systems is a significant advantage.
- Technical Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of combined cycle power generation processes, including regulatory considerations and contractual obligations under a PPA, is required.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Arabic is considered a valuable asset.
- Physical and Other Requirements: You must be capable of thriving in a dynamic, high-pressure environment and effectively managing emergency situations. The role requires flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by operational demands.
